CTMagicUK 1,614 Report post Posted July 9, 2024 In Summer League media Jett and AB talked about how they've basically just been locked in the gym together for the last month and a half with the coaching staff. Jett specifically mentioned he'd been working on his defense and AB specifically mentioned working on his offensive aggression and physicality. Summer League is summer league. It sucks and it doesn't matter. But I'm still excited to see these guys play.
orlandoholic 196 Report post Posted July 9, 2024 https://x.com/aidanlaporta69/status/1810503386812260579?s=46 Kessler can be had for a first. It scares me why he’d be traded already. But as Orlando, you should make a call and see if we can get him for that Denver pick or protected Orlando pick. Kessler is a great fit on this team. He’s on a cheap contract and has some 3 and D upside. Imagine the defense of Suggs, KCP, Isaac, Kessler !!!!
CTMagicUK 1,614 Report post Posted July 9, 2024 I feel like if a team without a clear future is trying to trade a second year player it's probably not worth investing in that player. The Jazz big rotation without Kessler is like Drew Eubanks and playing John Collins at C and they're still trying to trade him? Maybe not a red flag but certainly an orange one. Had a quick look, the Jazz were 2-16 in games where Walker Kessler played 27 or more minutes this past season... Maybe this is just scheme thing, maybe the Jazz aren't interested in playing a deep drop coverage and maybe they want more versatility on offense. But then, those things are also true of the Magic so...?
CTMagicUK 1,614 Report post Posted July 9, 2024 Shout out to Andy Larsson of the Salt Lake Tribune and Kevin Pelton ESPN's resident stat guy who stopped Paolo being unanimous Rookie of the Year by voting Walker Kessler. Some takes are wrong immediately, some take a few years before it becomes apparent they were wrong. And then there are takes that were both wrong at the time and continue to look increasingly more wrong the more that time goes on.
JJZFL 696 Report post Posted July 9, 2024 So are there any more highlights where interesting things might happen during this offseason, or is it basically doldrums between now and October?

Kessler doesn’t seem to fit into what Utah is doing scheme wise and therefore it’s better to trade him now at his „peak“ value. They aren’t going to get a first round pick if they decide to limit his minutes due to scheme. For us it makes sense. Kessler does everything Bitadze does, just a lot better. Also, we’d have our center if we decided to move on from WCJ. This trade would be a no brainer to me. We aren’t adding two more rookies next season. Not happening. CTMagicUK 1,614 Report post Posted July 9, 2024 12 hours ago, Shine88 said: https://x.com/OrlandoMagic/status/1810448753637421189 It looks like AB, Jett, TDS, Culver and Huff will be our starting 5 in SL. Id be kind of surprised if it's Culver over Jared Rhoden. Rhoden got some burn in the NBA the last couple of seasons (albeit for a bad Pistons roster) and put up awesome stats in the G league last season with 26/6.5/3 on 51/45/68 shooting in 12 games (the FT% is major small sample size). Right now, before we see them play, I'd guess Rhoden and Huff get the last 2 2 way contracts.

orlandoholic 196 Report post Posted July 9, 2024 Oh i’ve seen a picture of Charles Bediako. Somehow missed him on the list of our squad. Actually a really solid player. Our summer league squad has some real talent. Excited to see them. We have never had this good of a all around summer league team
Shine88 115 Report post Posted July 9, 2024 Jawn Gonzalez on X: "What if McCain is new Maxey don’t at me https://t.co/S43zYHpctR" / X I was impressed with his play. His shot wasn't falling, but he showcased his ability to run the show. The kid is build like a football player. Was hoping he felt to us at #18, thought he was a good fit for our squad. Dillion Jones and Isaiah Collier stood out, too.
