2024 Off-season Thread

Some contract details starting to come out, and wow, Weltman cooked this off-season. Harris and Moe have teams options after the first year. Isaac has next year and the year after fully guaranteed, but only half guaranteed in year 3 and unguaranteed years 4 and 5.

Those are perfectly structured deals.

Yeah, I thought he was going to get a similar deal to Maxey. Philly got him on a bargain deal. He's one of the few young guys that deserved the $270 million. The kids a stud.

Franz got the max. Maxey got the max. It's just a different max to Franz because his starts this year at a lower salary cap level.

He'll likely sign with a team like the Suns or 76ers but we could do worse than Devonte Graham with that last spot.

Now that Isaac’s contract details have emerged what a great contract!  We are going to be even scarier defensively with him Suggs and KCP leading the way.

End of an era: The Orlando Magic renounced the first-round draft rights for Fran Vazquez. Orlando drafted Vazquez with the 11th pick in the 2005 NBA Draft. The 41-year-old Spanish big man retired from playing professional basketball after the 2019-20 season.

Scratch that! A good accountant would have not lost the paper work on this guy. Or were they holding out for his return out of retirement?  Clown show!

A look back at the 2021 NBA Draft: https://www.nba.com/news/2021-nba-draft-results-picks-1-60

An argument could be made that Franz should have been the top pick in the draft. At the very least, top 3. Meanwhile, I believe we got 2 of the top 5 guys from this draft. The sky is the limit, Magic fans. Believe!

In hindsight there are a couple of guys we could have had in the 2nd round that would have been great for us. Kessler and Herb Jones.

We are slowly locking in out team of the future! JI & FW locked in for 5 years, Suggs next, then Paolo. There's a solid starting 4 for years to come providing JI continues to be playable.

Kind of locks Suggs in at PG.  It didn’t work well last year.  Hopefully it will work better in the future but hope is not really a plan.

Franz deserves the max. He's somehow become underrated and underappreciated by a fan base that was watching Dwayne Bacon and James Ennis on the wing less than 5 years ago.

He is way better than Ennis and Bacon.  Whether that should qualify him for a max is a different conversation, but I hope he plays well enough in future years to justify it.  We are definitely locked in and depending on him at this point.
