Not only Paolo is looking that he will be a great player.....at some point in the next 1 to 2 years he will force the FO to add star players via free agency or blockbuster trades. This is what GREAT NUMBER ONE OVERALL PICKS do for the organization and fans. A bit of patience is what we need to have.

This is from The Ringer. He looks very good Junkie. He did have 5 straight games of averaging only 3 pts a game with Lilard out. But he is very young and will take awhile. He looks like Zach Lavine to me. Definitely worthy of being picked in that 4-6 range in the draft. Just not number one obviously.

5. Detroit Pistons: Shaedon Sharpe

Pistons’ original pick: Jaden Ivey
Sharpe’s original team: No. 7 to Blazers
Sharpe’s predraft ranking: 4th

Sharpe didn’t play a single minute last year at Kentucky, but the first quarter of his rookie season has shown why the Blazers saw enough from him at the high school level to take him in the mid-lottery. Sharpe is making just under 40 percent of his 3s and showing a dynamic ability to score off of movement, and he already has multiple highlight at-rim finishes.

Sharpe has flashed his go-to scoring ability this season. Though Portland has limited his usage out of isolations, he uses his chances out of pick-and-rolls and closeouts to pull up from midrange. So far, he’s making over 40 percent of his dribble-jumper 2s, but he needs to extend his comfort zone to behind the arc, where he’s taking just 2.4 attempts per game. If that happens, he’ll blossom as a scorer.

Perhaps more importantly in the short term, Sharpe needs to show more progress as a playmaker given the talent surrounding him on Portland’s roster. That would be less important if he had been drafted by the Pistons to play alongside Cade Cunningham and Killian Hayes, who’s played his best basketball since Cunningham was sidelined by injury. Sharpe would have provided the Pistons franchise a potential go-to scoring wing, but he’s an even better fit with the Blazers.

Heres what espn has to say about Sharpe

Quote

Here’s what they had to write about Sharpe:

Sharpe has been able to carve out more playing time than expected for an ambitious Portland team trying to maximize the prime years of Damian Lillard, ranking top 10 in both minutes played and scoring. He has had highs and lows as expected considering he sat out last season and missed much of his senior year of high school because of an injury. Shooting 38% from beyond the arc, Sharpe’s shotmaking ability has been as advertised, be it off screens, pulling up in transition, relocating off pump-fakes or hitting difficult step-backs.

However, ESPN also notes that Sharpe has room to improve.

He’s still figuring out the nuances of creating higher-percentage opportunities for himself and others and getting to the free throw line more often, and he has not shown much yet as a passer. Defensively is where Sharpe has the most room to grow, which isn’t surprising considering his lack of experience. His intensity comes and goes, and he struggles to be effective off the ball, falling asleep more than you’d hope. How much Sharpe can grow in these areas will help determine how he’s viewed going into next season, but he has already shown considerable promise.

He's not listed on the KIA top ten rookie ladder anymore.

Paolo is still #1 on the ROY watch.

Nate …glad you’re still keeping up …but nobody is debating the ROY winner …it’s a given for Paolo …he's the focal part of our team so he will continue to get lots of touches and shots, put up numbers .

But the best player from this years rookie class has a long way to go before that answer is more discernible …heck, for all practical purposes we still haven’t seen Chet

Totally agree Paolo already has Rookie of The Year locked up.  The national media loves him and our young team especially Wagner.  I do think your guy sharp will be in the top 4 of this class in 3 years though.  You were right about him so far.

Time will tell …Lillard with the lob to Sharpe from the arc on a half court set …kids hops are eye opening

The Rising Stars game during All-Star Weekend is going to be a very good one this year....it includes 12 rookies, 12 sophomores and 4 G Leaguers.....so Scoot will be able to showcase his talent.

Games are in Utah, Friday - Sunday,  Feb 17 - 19
