2022-2023 Season Thread

Recommended Posts

I never post anymore because the season is winding down. I am hoping for a few more spoiler wins and a couple big games from Paolo and Fultz!

I just saw that Bamba went down with an injury. Probably done for the season if he still has some "magic" in him. Lakers can't catch a break and i'm all in for it!

Durant went down as well. Seriously what is wrong with the current NBA? Everyone is always hurt and it is more then 20 years ago. I started to think it wasn't the injuries it was the coverage, we just hear more about them now.

However it's not true at all. Way more season ending and multiple month injuries then when i was growing up.

Fred Vanvleet about to eat a huge fine for saying what everybody has been thinking about NBA refs.

Yeah i watched the presser on another sight, he just flat out said certain refs change the game and named the guy who hates him. LOL was great stuff.

He was fined 30 thousand.

One theory doing the rounds is in decades previously kids didn't specialise in sports until college and played multiple sports throughout the year using different muscles and allowing others to rest but nowadays kids specialise in their sport at such an early age, playing 3 or 4 games a day at times in AAU basketball and such, that their specific muscles have got so much wear and tear on them before they even make it to the NBA.

Yeah, and then add to it the NBA season is probably too long (won’t change because of $$$) and if you’re annually making deep playoff runs when the playoffs are milked for 2 rounds, you’re basically playing competitive basketball for 8 out of 12 months every year. Quite the conundrum for the league between making cash and player health

*edit - and the 8 out of 12 months is strictly on the nba calendar. Doesn’t even consider guys that play for their country in the summer

Part of the reason I have been against both the play-in and the first round going to 7 games instead of best-of-5; sure it is only 2-3 games, but they have just kept adding games, and they all add up. The "solution" has been to shorten both training camp and pre-season in favor of the additional games that have meaning. The problem with that is that so many guys use training camp and pre-season to get in "game shape" for the season. When you shorten those and rush the process, guys get injured.

82 games regular season has always been a madness IMEuropeanOpinion

Also, the guys that plays "only" 8 months, if are serious about getting better and their career, are still tearing and wearing their bodies with offseason hard trainings.

I think just reduce the season to 70 games and basically get rid of back to backs.

And definitely don't implement that stupid mid season tournament they're talking about.

Like has already been said it'll never happen.

70 still sound like a long season, but yeah, preventing back to back would be a great W already.

Midseason tournament could be interesting if well thinked, but has to be a fast-tournament, something like the NCAA bracket maybe? But couldn't be worst than empty all-star, right?

All Star is one meaningless, low intensity game for a handful of players that comes with a week off.

A tournament would be several mid season games that would presumably have some reward or meaning assigned to them and would only add more games to the calendar.
