This team with a full season of Fultz + a number 1 pick and a couple of solid vets might actually be decent.

We also have near max $$$ if we want it. I’m really curious how we play this off-season. Stay young and continue to rebuild and we’re probably in the play-in. Make a move for Brunson or Lavine in FA would have to involve some other trades and is hard to project. It’s nice to have some excitement back.

Something "tells" me that the FO might make an offer to Anfernee Simons (23 on June 8/ 22) when free agency opens up.....

Current Contract:

Anfernee Simons signed a 4 year / $10,175,938 contract with the Portland Trail Blazers, including $10,175,938 guaranteed, and an annual average salary of $2,543,985. In 2022-23, Simons will earn a base salary of $5,758,552, while carrying a cap hit of $11,816,454.
Free Agent: 2022 / RFA
Contract: 4 yr(s) / $10,175,938
Average Salary: $2,543,985
Signed Using: Entry Level/Rookie

From what we all know, guard called The Human Torch won't be with the team when training camp opens.

The re-build continues and the salary cap is saved for the 2022/23 summer.

That’d be an interesting move with Suggs, Cole and Kelle already on the roster, but I guess you could say the same about Brunson. We probably sit still in FA unless we make a trade

Am I reading that Bamba, Ross and Hampton were net negatives in their impact?

Yup, actually of all the players with negative differentials it seems like Hampton is the only one who'll definitely be here next season.

It'll be interesting to see at what stage we push some of our chips in because right now we have a bunch of assets but they all have expiry dates. Next summer Cole, Hampton and Chuma will all be heading into their last year on rookie deals. I think that summer might be a huge one after seeing how sophomore Suggs and Franz looks, how our #1 pick looks and how healthy Fultz and Isaac have managed to stay plus we'll have 2 first round picks.

I think we'll try and keep our cap sheet relatively clean until we have a clear direction so I'd be surprised if we offered any long term deals at big money this summer but a couple of 2 year deals at 10ish mil or less for some vets might work.

Thanks. Given that Bamba started a ton of games, the net differential is no bueno. I'm ready to move on. As for Hampton, his basketball iq just looked so low to me last year. He's got a good body and nice shot, but I'm not sure he'll make it in this league unless his brain catches up with everything.

Hampton”s biggest issue is that he is not a PG , but played a bunch of time as the  primary backup

Brunson is an unrestricted free agent this upcoming summer....."and NBA executives expect his next contract to be worth $20-25 millions per year"

He is not coming to the Magic and catapult to be the highest player in the roster....AS A BACKUP......to Markelle / Suggs combination..

So I was playing around on the NBA Trade Machine, and came up with this trade. What do you all think?

NBA Trade Machine | TradeNBA

Pacers get: Terrence Ross, 2022 #1 draft pick

Magic get: Malcolm Brogdon, 2022 #6 draft pick, rights to Cleveland's 2023 1st round pick

I don’t think it’s worth it. To trade the #1 overall pick, I think it’d need to be for a young star in the Donovan Mitchell or Dejuonte Murray mold. To me Brogdon probably is only worth a mid to late round pick by himself, and we really don’t need more picks next year.

Edit: Upon further research, I wouldn’t want Brogdon even if it cost us nothing. His injury situation and salary are net negatives for me.
