MagicFanDan grow up man …pretty sure that’s you giving me all the downvotes …this is a draft with no clear number 1 …opinions are all over the place …gave me a downvote for posting an article about success rates of highly ranked HS kids …My thinking when observing this board was that it was a little more mature than that …

FYI- I didn’t downvote you.

…and I still maintain we had no visual examples when we drafted Howard

Well youtube came out in 05, so for mass consumption to the public i agree but i guarantee the scouts had dozens of hours of scouting film on dwight in addition to live testimony of scouts. I knew a parapalegic who used to have a column in the miami herald called "rolling along" he singlehandly (in 05) had almost as much videotaped footage of every dolphins and hurricanes game then anyone other then a corporation, so with digital video being a thing i'm sure there was media.

Break down on Jaden Hardy, who I think is worth trading back into the first for (if price is reasonable). Reasonable price in my mine is both second and Ross for the 21st pick.

As I’m sure they do on Sharpe …I coached HS bb for a while …even on the lowest levels they video every game …I’m confident with a player on Sharpe’s level there is ample evidence to support

Edit: and as you know every expert that has seen him live give nothing but rave reviews

Edit: and here we are again talking about physical evidence …not about his talent

Potentially a hot take, but Chet is Victor Wembanyama lite lite.

Victor is the real Unicorn!

it's not a hot take; it's why FO's are eyeing next season as a major tank year to get Victor.

The lottery winner shouldn't have to worry about any red flags for its No. 1 overall prospect. Jabari Smith's aren't alarming enough to hint at any bust potential, but the Orlando Magic should be aware of them.

The 6'10" Smith shot only 43.5 percent inside the three-point arc during his lone season at Auburn. The only other lottery picks 6'7" or taller to shoot under 45.0 percent inside the arc were Ziaire Williams and Cam Reddish. Dropping it to 6'6" or taller, the list expands to Michael Carter-Williams, Jerome Robinson, Denzel Valentine and Klay Thompson.

Could Smith, a 42.0 percent three-point shooter on 5.5 attempts per game, be a bigger version of Thompson? It's an interesting comparison, though Thompson drilled 37 shots off screens as a freshman at Washington State. He led the NBA in points per game off screens for the fifth time this season. Meanwhile, off-screen scoring isn't currently a big part of Smith's game (8-of-24).

Smith also totaled only 14 dunks in 978 minutes. Aside from Cade Cunningham, a playmaking guard, these are the lottery picks at least 6'8" who had fewer than 15 dunks in a season: Doug McDermott, Otto Porter Jr., Cameron Johnson, Franz Wagner, Cade Cunningham, T.J. Warren, Taurean Prince, Domantas Sabonis, Myles Turner, Reddish and Williams.

In the half court, Smith took 241 jump shots to 71 shots at the rim, where he shot an underwhelming 52.1 percent (48th percentile, per Synergy).

Smith has a case as the best-shooting freshman big in NBA draft history. He even hit 42 pull-ups at a 40.0 percent clip. The fear with Smith is that he winds up becoming more of a shot-making specialist than a No. 1 option.

That wouldn't be as scary with the No. 2 or No. 3 pick in this particular draft. But given his lack of explosiveness off the dribble and at the rim and some loose handles in tight spaces for getting to the basket, Smith does have some flaws for Orlando to consider with a potential franchise-changing No. 1 pick.

  1. From Wassermen of BR …and if you go to his article he also waves a Red Flag at Sharpe …but it’s the same sample size argument

One thing I think is worth mentioning. Smith is being written about as a quasi three-and-d guy, but I think this understates his impact on offense. Looking at minutes played, Smith averaged more points for Auburn than the other two big fellas. And I think it’s safe to say Paulo’s supporting cast (5 total first round picks?) was way better than Smith’s. I think this all needs to be factored in.

TAKE A LOOK AT THE STANDOUTS FROM DAY 1 OF THE GEICO TOP FLIGHT INVITE IN LAS VEGAS.

The Geico Top Flight Invite kicked off on Friday night with teams from as far as Virginia taking part in the event. Here's a look at the standouts from Day 1.

1 Shaedon Sharpe, 6'5 Guard/Wing, Dream City (Kentucky Commit)
Shaedon Sharpe was one of the top performers of the day for Dream City in their 85-69 victory over Vertical Academy. He showed his composure in letting the game come to him as he put up 24 points, nine rebounds, two blocks, two steals and two steals while shooting 10-of-15 from the field and 3-of-7 from 3-point range.

It's very easy to see why he's the No. 1 rated prospect in ESPN's Class of 2022 national rankings with his smooth game, athleticism and shooting stroke. He's also quite the presence on the defensive end as he made plays at the rim defensively as well. He was the No. 1 standout on Day 1.

Top kids in the nation in a tournament …here’s your video evidence and link to the write up …If I would have seen stuff like this when Dwight came out I’d have said where do I sign up …Vid is only 5 minutes

Edit: Game was played Oct 16 …not that long ago

Edit: Crowd just oohing and awing pretty much every time he gets the ball

Edit: this was an ESPN game

I love the optimism, and I love Franz. What a pick. I personally see Franz in the mold of vintage Gordon Hayward, but I’ll take the Brown comp!

I understand your thoughts. the reason I said brown is because of the defense that franz has shown. Hayward is not the defender franz is already. We even had franz guard trey young last year. Franz came out as one of the top defenders in last year's draft. All of the offense was a major surprise and bonus.
