is there a video of the Amways reaction when the Raptors selected Scottie Barnes?

What they showed was more of the lead-up to our announcement - the Amway crowd was going crazy chanting "Suggs, Suggs, Suggs..." before the commissioner got to the podium.

Suggs has things to work on (off-ball-shooting, turnovers) but he has much much better offensive feel than Jrue and Lowry did at their respective ages. I don't think he'll be in that Beal/Dame/Trae category of capable of getting 40 every night but he has a foundation to be a reliable all-star PG.

Agreed here. Jrue Holiday was a fine scorer but Suggs has a better natural athleticism / offensive feel from my perspective.

I think everyone also forgets that he was both Mr. Basketball and Mr. Football in Minnesota as a senior in HS, basically meaning that he was only devoting a half year to basketball each year of high school and this past year was the first year he was focused on only basketball for a full year. His athleticism and burst are there - it just takes the reps (which he'll put in) to become a great natural scorer in this league.

We don't have to do anything with Bacon besides waive him. His contract isn't guaranteed yet, we have until August 9th. I would like to see if Harris can come back healthy, but since he is on the last year of his contract, he is probably a trade deadline move. MCW is cheap insurance, and a good defensive guy to plug in for specific times. I hope we bring back Franz' brother Moe Wagner as a cheap backup PF/C. I think he played well in that role at the end of the year and earned that shot.

I agree, Mo should come back and and I’d be happy to have MCW, but not sure he would be happy with his role.

It's certainly possible. I'm honestly more concerned with his ball handling and flexibility than anything else. His shooting stroke looks good, and he's smart about how and when he takes shots, so he could develop into a really solid shooter with more reps. But he won't become an elite scorer unless he works on ball handling and flexibility, because guys in the NBA can take away what you do if it's not deceptive (or just physically overwhelming like Giannis or Lebron or Zion). What has impressed me in doing study on him is obviously his vision and feel for the game, which is elite for a prospect. Jrue wasn't really that guy at this age at all. He could be considerably better than Jrue. I just think a mix of Jrue/Deron Williams is a good positive expectation for the guy.

He's a championship player, just I don't think one who's going to elevate a bad team to that level. He will be more and more valuable the better the team around him gets, which is actually awesome. That's hard to find.

I'm fine bringing MCW back as a defensive specialist wing. If we trade Harris, his role would probably be fine, because you can find 15-20 minutes for him at that point without breaking too much into the young guards' minutes. Also remember Fultz is probably gone for at least half the season, so he'll get minutes early in the season even with Harris on board. I like MCW as a culture guy, a spark plug defensively, and he's a pro. He's the kind of guy you want on your team at any level of a rebuild, because he does positive things and his energy is infectious. He just can't be a guy you rely on too much, because his offense can go from acceptable to detrimental at the drop of a hat. He's a pitbull you keep on a leash, but he can put a little bit of dog in these other guys, which is a good thing.

I’m curious if the crowd erupted when Barnes was announced at 4 haha

Yes, it does get mentioned frequently, but to the casual fan who doesn't (hasn't) watched a lot of college ball it might not be top of mind. Also, I think the "concentration" on basketball exclusively is a really good point to make. He has made some pretty impressive improvements to his game in that year, so that focus definitely points at more improvements to come/upside.

Happy Day After Draft Day !!!!

We got 2 very good players without question.

Jalen should be a star in this league the way he plays the game. Franz can also play this game very well.

Next up soon, hard work to achieve chemistry among all teammates. Will be mixed and matched up to see the best combinations.

I see this team capable playing well offensively and defensively. Coach said with pace....I'll add fast pace many time during the game. We have a lot young and athletic guys that can and will run the break.

Free agency starts Monday...interesting who this FO will add to this team. Whoever they go after, should make the team better.

Go Magic !!!!

Wagner actually reminds me a lot of Otto Porter

I think this is a good one. Think Franz is a better lateral athlete than Porter was actually but otherwise they're very similar.
