We need to hire the coach who is going to develop the team the best. End of.

I dont care for nostalgia.

If they feel Penny is the man for the job then so be it.

Are we thinking we’ll have a coach before the draft in 4 weeks?

"That domino falling would seemingly clear the way for Kenny Atkinson in Orlando. Word about the Magic's own head coaching vacancy has been relatively mum of late, but the former Nets head coach and current Clippers assistant has been the loudest name mentioned for Orlando's open post. It's believed the Magic are looking for a candidate with previous head coaching experience, and Terry Stotts could also be a strong option for Orlando, sources said. The Athletic reported that Penny Hardaway interviewed for the Magic opening."

(It's an article about other coaching jobs but this is a snippet on ours)

This +1

Agree and +1.  Of course how to identify that best choice is always the issue.  I agree that nostalgia or past accomplishments as a player for the Magic should not factor into that calculation.

A fun snippet from Bobby Marks off-season piece on Orlando (which mostly just recaps a bunch of stuff we already know) is that the last 2 teams to have 2 top 10 picks in the same draft are now both in the conference finals (Atlanta, Phoenix). It means nothing but it gives me hope.
