Nice. I guess we have considered it then.

I'd be pretty excited about Mosley to be honest. Some people considered him the heir apparent to Carlisle in Dallas.

Magic interviewed Penny and he has emerged as an serious candidate. Per Sham.

Wow.

He hasn’t really done anything as a head coach yet, so he wouldn’t be one of my top few choices in a vacuum. With that said, I understand the nostalgia + excitement aspect of it. The fanbase would be hyped up and you’d expect he’d connect strongly with the players. But it is a leap of faith.

From a basketball perspective, I’m nervous with Penny, but from a team interest point, he’d generate a ton of buzz, and that would probably be worth it.

Do you think he would develop players as good as any of coach? That’s the real question. Because he sells tickets season tickets 10x more than any other coach, which accounts for something serious for the bottom line.

My gut says this is an Alex Martins push (and ultimate hire) again to the chagrin of our GM.

Oh, I think the first part of your question is totally an unknown and a valid concern, but if this move is the route we choose it’s strictly from a team excitement and ticket/merch sales perspective. There’s too many well traveled experienced NBA coaches to spin the narrative any other way.
