JJZFL 618 Report post Posted May 12, 2021 Cole Anthony had 18 points but zero assists. Not good for your point guard. Magic overall with 18 assists. We are 28th in the league in that statistic. You don’t have to have stars to share the ball, and we will never be good if we don’t. Yes, yes, yes! You know what JZL, I arose this morning thinking the same thing about Cole. Please don't get me wrong, he has been very good filling in for Markelle, but at times he tries to do too much, especially lately. I love it when he pushes the ball, but last night he dribbled too much and at times played hero ball. What I mean by that is several times he went crashing to the board with defenders all around him. He was determined to shoot the ball anyway and threw the ball up toward the basket from the side. He had zero chance of making that shot with taller defenders surrounding him with arms straight up blocking his view. It's a wonderful thing when point guards are good at shooting the ball, but they must be as good in the assist category. Completely agree. It’s also a matter of attitude. You can see with some of the players that on certain plays they are determined to shoot, even if they don’t have a good look. It almost like “my turn” and they shoot no matter what. That really needs to stop.
