OFFICIAL GAME THREAD - Magic @ Hawks - April 20th, 2021

I might have finally hit the point where I’m done with Bamba. He just doesn’t seem to want it bad enough.

Also, it’s early and he’s stupid young, but I’m nervous about RJ

Win or lose I like seeing these youngsters getting some play. This is the time for management to observe and see what we have in them.

Having them get blown out on a regular basis is not good for them and not helpful for evaluating them either.

Agree with both points.  RJ is looking like the next Bacon; extremely selfish, makes everyone else worse.

It doesn't help they're usually efficient scorer's and none of them are having an explicitly bad night. Trae had a stinker against Milwaukee the other day so he's probably still pissed about that.

There’s a reason that no one seems to have a bad night against us anymore.   We’re playing really bad defense.  The lack of effort is evident with all the second chance points we’ve been giving up.   It’s the kind of thing you see with a demoralized team and unfortunately it’s a steppingstone to developing losing habits.

Can this season end?

Wendell is good. He's probably a starting C in the league for the next 10 years health permitting.

Chuma's shot has stopped falling but I'm pretty confident it'll work out and he's just such a smart defender and passer.

Cole's finishing at the rim seems to have taken a leap already. It's only been the few games since he got back but he's been making shots after contact and that could be huge for his development.

Do the Magic have some kind of anti shooter effect? Devin Cannady was a walking bucket in the G League, playing on a 10 day splashed a couple of 3s, then signed a 2 way and had like 3 air balls last night. What the hell is that?

Hampton and Bamba better put a lot of work in this summer. Hampton does the dumbest **** on defense and just wants to shoot it every time he touches it on offense. He didn't have a summer league, pre season and was traded midseason so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt for now.

Bamba at the minute just looks like he has no place on a modern NBA court, there was a play last night where Trae Young came off a pick and roll and pulled up from 3 and Bamba had 2 feet in the paint. That's just not how you play defense against the dynamic ball handlers in this league. I wouldn't mind so much if he was walling up the paint but it's not like guys don't go in there and finish over and around him consistently either.  He needs a dramatic leap forward this summer otherwise he's a 3 point shooting specialist bench guy at best.

Agree. If we could get any kind of positive value for Mo in the summer I'd consider it.

I think part of the problem with our shooters such as Canaday is that our ball movement, especially with Hampton in there, is insufficient to get them into any kind of rhythm.  They get very few touches, and when they do get one, it’s rarely for a good look.  It’s why I believe that one selfish player can make everyone else on the court worse, at least on offense.

I think that we should explore making a package of the Bulls pick and Bamba to move up in the draft. so lets say cleveland gets #5 and the bulls ends at #9... Perhaps we could entice them to swap picks if we throw in bamba. So we could have #2 and #5 or something like that.

At this point there might be too much tape for us to get anything of value for him. Like, he got owned by the rookie version of himself last night.

That ship has sailed. When he had a perceived potential. We saw it, well at least some did.

Not enough effort is his calling card.
