2021 NBA Draft Thread

Recommended Posts

Here's an interesting piece with anonymous NBA execs on Evan Mobley:

https://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/2021/03/31/evan-mobley-nba-draft/

Here's one quote:

“I like Mobley much more than Ayton, Bagley and Wiseman” when they were coming out, an Eastern Conference executive said. “He [projects as] a much better defender. He’s better with the ball. Bagley and Wiseman were mistakes. You don’t want to make a mistake [by not taking Mobley] because you were trying to avoid someone else’s mistake.”

I thought Giddey with the Bulls pick might be a reach but honestly one of Giddey or Franz Wagner to go with Jalen Green and I'll be more excited than I can describe.

I know this is kind of sacrilegious but I'm sort of secretly hoping we don't get Cade and get Jalen Green. I just think his space creation and burst are special and could make him a really great scorer and he's a much better fit with the rest of the roster (I know that shouldn't really be in consideration and if we get 1 I'd still jump at drafting Cade and figure it out but I'm a Fultz believer and think he and Cade is a more difficult fit).

I agree here, I’ve had Green at the top of my big board for awhile. I also think Green and Kuminga both playing in the G League this year instead of college will make for a more immediate impact in their rookie years.

Just imagine being the team that drafted Bagley ahead of Doncic because apparently their GM didn’t like Luka’s father!

This would be a horror scenario. Chicago Bulls win the lottery and jump to first overall and select Cade Cunningham. It would be like them winning the lottery and selecting Derrick Rose.

We drafted third and go Jalen Green. If we pick outside the top two, he would be an excellent pick for us.

Bleacher report’s latest Mock has us landing Green at 4 and Jalen Johnson at 8

Not particularly fond of the Jalen Johnson pick. With how Okeke is looking and Isaac coming back, do we need to be drafting another prospect for the PF spot?

If Jalen Johnson is seen as a potential all star, fair enough, but as far as I’m aware that’s not his projection. Personally I’d look at a different pick and allow Okeke and Isaac to rotate at the PF spot.

The great thing with the JI and Chuma pairing is that either can play the 3/4 position which means they can play together on the court and the defensive potential of that pairing is going to be scary good. If we pick another PF because that’s BPA I wouldn’t worry about having to find PT to play him because we will have plenty to go around next year once Gary Clark, Khem Birch, Dwayne Bacon, and James Ennis are gone next year.
