All Eyes On Me 1,206 Report post Posted March 5, 2020 Good effort, tough loss. They made a ton of tough shots and contested shots. I loathe Miami...
OnlyFranz 291 Report post Posted March 5, 2020 If that’s what cliff drew up... Meh. I would have preferred him swinging it back to someone who could actually shoot like Ross.

Understandable but a step back falling away 3 is a bad shot. No need to go into the corner and trap yourself against the sideline. Either way it was gonna be a tough game to win with how Miami shot lights out from 3.

When they’re allowed to be physical, Bam, Butler, Iggy, Jae and DJJ might be the best defensive lineup in the league.

Well, it’s kind of what you run in to in late game situations if you’re down by 3 and you only have 2 guys on your team that even have a decent chance at hitting a 3. A huge part of the issue (still) is roster construction
MagicOne 119 Report post Posted March 5, 2020 I just don't see us beating Minnesota, Houston, or Memphis coming up. Not the way we are playing right now defensively. No sense even watching the Rockets or the Grizzlies game. Those will be two blowout losses. And the Wolves almost got us at home recently and have won 2 straight. That game will be a little closer but will still result in a loss. Thankfully we are in the Eastern Conference. We will still be in the playoff hunt despite the 6 game losing streak.

With that much time left down 3 there's not many other options. Option 1 and 2 were moving in the preferable areas. Can't throw a pass to the opposite corner. Not much else available to get a good three point look.
Amkyka 37 Report post Posted March 5, 2020 I would have preferred Ross or Evan taking the last shot but Fultz got it to the only open guy, AG had a good shot but didn’t go down. Good game overall against a good team.

A huge part of the issue (still) is roster construction That’s when you get your best screeners in the game to get those guys open shots or run them off multiple screens to get them open. AG was working with what he got but the coach should have ensured one of his better shooters got open by setting multiple screens.

AG could have come back towards the top of the key instead of fading into the corner. That could have given one of Ross or Fournier a little more time to get open for a better look. Again it is what it is but that was a bad shot coming out of a timeout regardless of which option he was.
