It’s crazy how much the East has opened up. The only two legit contenders are Toronto and Milwaukee, and Toronto might lose Leonard. I really hope there’s a way to take a step forward this summer.

Do you allow the new landscape to kinda shape your moves to be more competitive because you never know and could ***** around and make the playoffs or just continue to build methodically for sustainability? Is there a path to doing both?

You gotta build sustainabily

Look at Philly. They dropped a bunch of assets on Harris and Butler because the east is wide open. If they leave they've set back their franchise a few years.

Is there a means out there that allows us to continue on that sustainable build, but also puts us in the ball park of unexpected contender?

It'll all come down to the development of our youth. Fultz is the lotto ticket.

Not really.

The Toronto model was assembling assets over 8 years to the point where they had a legitimate 11 man rotation in the playoffs and then shedding some of those assets for upgrades to create a great 8 man rotation.

Any move we make to make us a contender probably kills our depth too.

Here's the path to becoming a contender: Fultz is fully healed and plays like second year Derrick Rose. We nail the draft pick who basically plays like rookie Kuzma (that is to say immediately playable with scoring in the teens). Everyone else takes positive steps forward.

Who says no: Fournier for Favors?

Jazz get scoring, we get a viable replacement for Vuc.

I say no.

We don't need to rush to dump fournier.

Why not Brook Lopez to replace Vuch?  Only made $3.3M last year.  Unrestricted FA and has developed a 3pter over the last 3 years.  Could give him $6-10M per over the next 4 with a PO after 3?

yes. The Lakers are trying to get 2nd rounders. I will be ok to trade our second round pick for any of those two players.

Wouldn’t mind trading for Wagner for a future second. Low risk, decent reward

Love this blueprint and fits what our FO has done developing this team.  Not a time to reverse course and give away assets yet.  Unless a really good deal falls in our lap without giving up our youthful core players stay the course.  Above are realistic expectations.  It may not work out that way but I am optimistic it will.  I would love to move back into the first round tomorrow night after pick 16 if we can get a big guy (assuming we go guard at 16) if one is available (Kabengele or Fernando).
