Fultz4thewin 2,464 Report post Posted June 21, 2019 8 minutes ago, ML6 said: Reading through comments from Auburn fans regarding Okeke is very encouraging. They loved this guy. Yeah. Here's the thing. We all spent a lot of this year discussing guys flaws and how everyone from 8 to 50 was really close but has reasons to be excited and reasons to question picking them. Okeke's flaw is we have the first 53 games of his career that project him as a good NBA backup combo forward. He fit in, did all the little things, flashed a bit to justify an NBA upside, but was just an alright guy without weaknesses (kind of like daquan Jefferies to be honest). Then the last 15 games of his career he turned into a game breaking stud player on a team with championship aspirations. Taking over games on both ends. If you get the second guy you're getting an all star. A guy Atlanta is going to be killing themselves they didn't take at 4. If you get the first guy you're getting someone closer to like "what if Dorian Finney Smith could shoot" 1
Fultz4thewin 2,464 Report post Posted June 21, 2019 The mid tier path is "the version of Isaac that existed during our winning streak when he learned how to shoot and attack closeouts off the dribble but suspended in time never getting better than that" 1
magicdoc1 261 Report post Posted June 21, 2019 I am looking forward to see Okeke in a magic uniform I am still figuring out what is going to happen with our SG and Center position. I just hope that we start the year with someone other than Fournier at SG. If we keep the same core there is a possibility we don't make playoff next year. Brooklyn, indiana, miami, Knicks, Boston are going to be aggressive in free agency. Toronto, Milwaukee and Phila are good enough to be back in the playoff. Cleveland, Chicago and Atlanta are making interesting moves. Then you have Detroit Washington and Charlotte that are in the same boat as we are. Where are we? Will see how this offseason goes. It can break us or keep us in contention.

TheNameIsOrlando 310 Report post Posted June 21, 2019 I know everyone hates Evan but before last year dude was serviceable at worst. If he can get back to that (shot maker and gives good defensive effort) we are fine at SG. This is especially true with Vuch gone and the possibility of Fultz coming back. To get rid of Evan for the sake of him being gone is short sighted. He's not terrible.

Yeah I mean I think the Robbins assessment of his season is pretty on point -- he improved in most areas and just couldn't shoot. If he gets back to his averages next year and maintains his level of production elsewhere he is a good player. And he doesn't get the credit he deserves for his play at the end of the regular season either. I don't think we sneak into the playoffs without some of the plays he made. Remember when Boston erased our 14 point lead in like 3 minutes? It was Evan that had several huge plays after that to help us keep the W.

To get rid of Evan for the sake of him being gone is short sighted. He's not terrible. I use to be an Evan supporter. As far back as 3 seasons ago, when some of the family on here accused him and Vuch of playing buddy ball and wanted both of them gone, I was willing to give Evan a pass. At that time, as a starter, Evan's scoring helped to keep the Magic close in games. There were games where he made buzzer beaters to win a game. But the following season, he tried to do too much. He missed easy lay ups and turned the ball over a lot trying to hand the ball to Vuch in the paint. Evan wanted to be the go to guy at the end of games and bricked a lot of shots. So, "no" to Evan. Fools gold. **Fool me once, shame on you. . .fool me twice, shame on me.**
