Sometimes certain pieces work together even if they don't work outside of that configuration.

Grant often looks fantastic in that line-up, but barely looks like an NBA player otherwise.

Bamba actually gets to play center, which I think helps.

Simmons is an energy guy even when his shot isn't going (as it hasn't been), which keeps everyone else playing at a higher level.

Gordon brings the overall talent level up.

I'd say we don't have enough minutes with Martin to see if he really improves that line-up or not.

Sure but you'd think Augustin-Ross-Simmons-Gordon-Bamba would be better than -71

Or Grant-Ross-iwundu-Gordon-Bamba -64

Or Grant-Fournier-Simmons-Gordon-Bamba -41

Or Grant-Ross-Simmons-Isaac-Bamba -140

Oh, Grant-Ross-Simmons-iwundu-Bamba is +16 in 3 minutes.

“Prior to tonight’s matchup with the Nuggets, Denver head coach Mike Malone pointed out to the media – unprompted – that Boston ranks last in the league in points in the paint with an average of just 35.3 per game. That number is far and away the worst in the league, with the next-lowest average coming in at 42.3 per game (Houston and Memphis).”

Sure seems like a Rozier for Vooch trade makes sense for both teams

ross and vucevic are having a great start, at least offensively. I am surprised by ross jump shot improvement.

If he can keep this up, we would only need fournier to join their level and be competitive.

BTW, george hill is and has always been a good player. Wanted him here long time ago.

Also, does anyone know why frazier does not get any minutes?

Frazier won't get minutes unless something bad happens. It's normal to have a 9 or 10 man rotation as it gives players well defined roles with a big chunk of minutes so they can ease into the game and not use their time to try and show off.

You guys, I figured it out. There’s nothing to worry about.

Last year we started 6-2 based largely on unsustainably great shooting, then everything turned completely around and we lost 74% of our remaining games, finishing 25-57.

This year we’re going to start 2-6 based largely on unsustainably bad shooting, but then we’ll turn it around and win 74% of our remaining games, finishing 57-25.

Easy!

Bump.  The science is there.

Ross has an EFG% of 47.5%. He has definitely had some good games, but overall, that is in the bottom 3rd of the league in efficiency. Not sure that is a "great start" offensively.

Sadly enough, we have only 3 players who have EFG%'s above league average- Vuch, Bamba, and Gordon.

Eh, last 6 games he's up to .519

Sometimes production for role players matters more than overall efficiency this early in the season.

This. And you cannot compare a guard who mostly settle for jump shots to the big ones who use to score a lot near the rim, where % are higher.

It's really fascinating to me how the Grant-Ross-Simmons-Gordon-Bamba lineup works.

It's been a positive in 5 out of 7 games

It's the 9th among all league lineups in total minutes.

But Grant, Simmons, and often Bamba have been bad.

If you replace Grant with Augustin the lineup collapses. If you replace Simmons with Fournier the lineup dies.

Gordon has the largest positive impact on the team. If you replace Gordon in that lineup with Martin the numbers improve.

So weird.

The Grant-Ross-Simmons-Gordon-Bamba lineup had a 133.3 offensive rating and a 100 defensive rating last night.

Only played 4 minutes.

Only 1 lineup in the league has played more minutes and is more effective and that's kemba-lamb-Batum-Williams-Zeller and it's only 0.1 better in net rating.

It's fourth in effectiveness among lineups that have played more than 75 minutes.

It's 9th in effectiveness among lineups that have played more than 50 minutes.
