2018 Official Offseason Thread

Recommended Posts

This trade in a nutshell: IT is hurt, we didn’t want to gamble on him. Ainge is asking too much for Rozier who is an RFA next off season and we can try again. Vuc is staying to mentor Bamba. The logjam at C is addressed  because biyombo would have taken bambaa minutes, and maybe they wanted versatility at C with two different types of centers with one that has offense. And without a longer term fix at PG, we roll with these 3 (essentially backup quality) PGs and we TANK and maybe position ourself to draft a top PG or sign one in free agency next year.

That looks like the plan here.

Awful plan

I think the Magic base has become so immune to mediocrity.

if you have an opportunity to make your team better, you take it. That's what management did, and today we are a better team. I am thankful.

People shouldn’t worry so much about Vuch. He’s on his way out either way. He’s not going to play if he doesn’t play D. We might just waive him.

Enjoy that we just got rid of one of the worst free agent signings in Magic history and bring in a PG with some intrigue and a center that’s won a title and can catch a pass.

This is a win/win.

Oh Stop!  We saved money getting Mozgov.  We also received a young defensive PG that fits the timeline of our young core.  It's a smart move negating the many dumb moves made by Henny and Co.

Also, Birch does that Biz did.  He was duplicate talent.

Did we really save money tho? Same # of years, and basically the same dollar amount, for a lesser player.

After seeing the contract details, color me unimpressed by this trade.

The only thing that matters is a proper analysis of our ultimate strategy.

To do that we need replacement level players (or better) who fit that strategy.

Grant fits that definition.

Nah you've just been pouty lately.

Eh, this always happens. A fan base that has been delivered repeatedly a bad product gets excited over a backup 26 year PG with faith it'll be fixed down the road. Over and over again. Groundhogs day.
