The morons are the ones who think he’s off-limits in trades.  He’s our best trade piece but is closer to a Tobias Harris type player than a cornerstone type player.   If we get a chance for a significant piece (ie top 5 pick) you do it.  He wouldn’t net such a high pick anyway but that wasn’t the point.

Lol. Of course no player is completely off limits, but you are severely underselling AG if you think he can be had for a top five pick.

You're right. No way a team would give us a top five pick for AG

Correct, teams should be giving up way more than one top five pick for a player of AG's talent.

The only player that I can think of who was 22 and playing at around an all-star level that was traded was James Harden- who was traded because the Thunder were being cheap. (Not saying Gordon is playing equivalent to Thunder Harden, just that he is the only player that is in the same range that I can think of.) Harden got the Thunder Kevin Martin, Jeremy Lamb, two first round picks, and a second round pick. That is probably at least equivalent to a top five pick and I think most people knew at the time that it was a poor return for Harden.

While Harden was better at that point than Gordon (at least offensively) and had just been to the finals, his finals performance had been poor, everyone knew the Thunder were being cheap and possibly looking at moving him after he had rejected their contract offer, and there were a lot of questions about whether or not he could lead a team on his own as he had been a 6th man on the Thunder (a stupid question to be sure, but one that was being asked). Basically a young guy like Gordon almost never gets traded (Harden is the exception), and they definitely are not traded for a bunch of magic beans.

Not to mention the guy has insane work ethic...wants to be GREAT... believes he will be great and works every damn day to get to that level.

AG is a absolute keeper at this point..

He is good already.. he is going to be special... hell he is unique already!!

Why would you trade a guy who's already averaging almost 20 PPG on 59%TS for a draft pick who you're *hoping* gets those type of numbers?

The Magic do not have good players, why the hell would you wanna move the one guy who's actually doing the things a good player does.

Because Murphy is doing his reverse-logic schtick again.

The number of players with multiple 40 point games in wins before their 23rd birthday in nba history is only 25 names long.

Trading Gordon for a top 5 pick would be pretty dumb.

"But why would I want this sack of money which is guaranteed to have at least $500 in it when I can trade it for a different sack of money with $0-650 in it?  There's a chance it has more money!!"

We should trade up for Dragan Bender.

We should trade vucevic for okafor

We should do whatever we can to get mudiay.  He's a guaranteed star.

This happens every year.

Gordon is a pretty good bet for a star player.  He might not end up being that guy but he's a really good bet.  And after we've all been confronted by the oladipo lesson of patience its pretty disheartening that so many posters have learned nothing.

You never trade realized talent a single draft pick, high or not, especially when they are still young. Even older talent you don't trade unless you are either getting a haul or your back is against the wall (they are going to leave or you are going in another direction (I.E. about to tank)).
