New GM Thread

I think Fournier would be better next to Westbrook as well, because he's a jump shooter.

Im not so sure. What he brings in shooting he's really terrible on defense. Okc needs a 2 that's a good defender because Westbrook is pretty bad too.

Westbrook being a bad defender pisses me off, because he really should be elite.

He wouldn't be the offensive player he is if he played better defense. That might actually be a good thing as far as how they are set up now.

If you had Pritchard on your list I think we can cross him off

Larry Bird is stepping down as Pacers president, league sources tell @TheVertical. Kevin Pritchard will take over basketball operations.

Bird is expected to continue on as a consultant, working with Pritchard and the Pacers front office, league sources tell @TheVertical.

Sources: For now, Bird's plan is consulting, but Orlando's search firm has been asking around about him as possible candidate for president.

I wouldn't mind bringing Bird in to consult on who we should hire but no way we'd get him so asking around about that is beyond pointless.

Don't think Bird does it. Bird leaving Indiana for Orlando just doesn't feel possible. Think he stays.

He's a "consultant".

He'll be there (on the payroll) but won't be there.

he could probably consult with us too if he wanted.

Has there ever been someone who's consult two teams at once before?

Btw, we're using a firm to help us in our GM search. Know anything about this becauae this is the first time I've ever heard of such a thing.

every time a coach or a GM job is open there's usually a firm hired to help with the selection process. This happens regularly in college football, college basketball, and professional sports. What they do is they keep regular tabs on the landscape using connections with the sport. Then they provide a list of the best fit. Firms exist because it's often too difficult to obtain a comprehensive list for candidates. Some are obvious but you're going to work with a pretty shallow pool if you only obtain people you've heard of.
