fwiw Payton shot 50% in the last 30 seconds when games were within 5 points. Fournier shot 33/17/77 and had 4 turnovers.

Exactly what my eyes witnessed

24. Orlando Magic (2016-17 standing: 29-53, did not qualify for playoffs)

Like the Mavericks, the Magic should probably be tanking to get another high pick, given their lack of a true franchise player or definite young core. But, as it stands, Orlando has too many average to above-average players to be truly terrible.

The Magic may be smart to sell away some of their players at the trade deadline for future picks and younger prospects. If they keep their roster throughout the year and play their best players the majority of the minutes, they could sneak into a playoff spot.

Record prediction: 31-51

Nothing worse than picking at the back end of the lottery every year, which seems to be the direction we're heading.

But everyone was complaining when Henny was tanking us to never never land??? So what is it? You can't have it both ways. Now that we have some exciting pieces that could make sense of what he was trying to do, it's still not good enough.

Terrence Jones is playing in China.

is he a terrible lockerroom presence or something? The second offseason in a row that the NBA basically said "Thanks but no thanks".

I've read a few times that he's not exactly the sharpest tool in the shed so maybe it's due to an inability to run plays, etc.

We complained because Hennigan was bad at tanking.

Also what exciting pieces?

yeah.

He's Iverson 2.0.

He's problematic and you really have to build a team around his faults and those faults might still be too present to be a guy who can get you over the hump but he's exciting and talented and that's better than not having him.

But it also is why many other teams shouldn't trade for him.

That same logic you use to give AG and EP a pass.

Kyrie is much different player now than pre Lebron in Cleveland. The team is also built around Lebron.

I give gordon a pass because he's 21 and only 3 seasons in.

What does it say about someone that they can only succeed when playing next to arguably the greatest player of all time?

I find it interesting that newer articles from JD on Magic website have no mention of some of the veterans of the team.

In 2 of the most recent articles, one about Afflalo signing and another about the summer progress with Weltman, they all mention and quote our GM/POBO on AG,EP, Mario, Isaac, Iwundu, Birch and new guys, but no mention of Fournier, Biz or Vuc (and DJ).

Wouldnt be surprised if any of them will be gone before preseason starts. (We can still trade right, no deadlines or anything?)

that's not a fact though. Before Lebron arrived yes Kyrie struggled, still a very young player. And the limited sample of games from their time together (Kyrie in, Lebron out) is still not indicative of how Irving could perform with his own team. The team is built around Lebron's strength and weaknesses. It's like us building a team around Dwight in 2009 but asking how the team would perform without him, or criticizing Lewis or Turk for being terrible without Dwight.

Nobody was considering blowing up their team to build around Lewis or Turk.
