...and we'd still be a lottery team only we'd have little to no flexibility with cap space. We'd essentially turn into the Knicks when Isiah Thomas was president. I like Hill, he's a good player, but it's not smart for us now.

I believe any team grows and goes as the point guard leads them. This team has been hampered in its development by horribly inconsistent point guard the last several years. Adding a vet like Hill for 2-3 years, who can also play some SG, would be a solid move, in my opinion.

It's sad how low Rob Hennigan set the bar here that people are seriously willing to spend every last penny we have on a good but not great player in a desperate attempt to compete for the 8th seed.

I'm not at all talking about the playoffs. I'm talking about maximizing development. I can't believe we're about to head into another year with EP as our clear cut starting point guard.

I'd rather us hit the reset button, pawn everyone off, and get back some cap space. We are a bottom feeder so might as well fully bottom out without spending so much.

We'll have to agree to disagree. Hill is a solid starting PG. Biz is barely an NBA player, Ingles at 15 mil a year is ludicrous.

I agree with you that Hill would help a ton and he's a better ball player than Ingles and Biz, but none of the 3 are superstars or even all-stars. Biz is better than you give him credit for, in my opinion

I never said he's not good, but he's never been an All Star and probably never will. At best he's the 10th best PG in the NBA. He's good, but he's not great. Say we sign him and go 41-41 and go into next offseason with the 16th pick in the draft and no cap space? It's just a bad idea for this team going forward. I'm not saying we should tank but blowing our load on the outside chance of being a treadmill team is not the answer either.

Biz played 41 minutes in a game 7 in the second round of the playoffs a year ago. Barely an NBA player?

It's not an attempt for the 8th seed, it's an overriding theme of bringing in talented players no matter the fit and seeing where it goes in the future.

Boston, Miami and Houston basically build by this concept, and I tend to agree with it.

(I'm fine with not signing Hill by the way).
