Tanking

Recommended Posts

If you want to completely deter tanking? Simple....

Team w/ best reg season record gets #1 pick

Team with worst record gets last pick.

No more tanking.

Rich get richer? Is it Orlando's fault for being a small market and having a hard time getting free agents? Also, it doesn't stop the tank. Do you think the magic would automatically win more games? Probably not

I think he was joking. It would completely stop tanking, but it would cause all other types of issues. It would keep bad teams bad and they'd never be able to get out of it.

To stop the tanking they should just do a ping pong lottery for the non-playoff teams. Pick selection wil be determined on the luck of the ball irrelevant on the win or losing record.

Agreed. I suggested something similar to this earlier.

They did something like that in the past, but had to change it because of us getting Shaq and Penny via consecutive #1 overall picks, despite having the best non-playoff record in the league for the 2nd one of those.

No system is perfect, but the pendulum has swung too far in the tanking direction. They need to decrease the incentives to lose.
