HeHateMe Posted June 28, 2015 Report Posted June 28, 2015 So the draft is behind us. Free agency starts next week, figured we might as well start talking about what people's expectations/predictions are for this upcoming season. Obviously what we do in free-agency will have a major impact on expectations on here, but it's easy to see the direction were headed in so why not make some predictions. Assuming we don't land a free agent like LA, my prediction would be between 35-40 wins, I'll go a head and say 38. I think 13 game improvement would meet my expectations and show good roster improvement and that the rebuild has truly worked. We're still very young, but I think with Skiles and a few better shooting options to spread the floor, that will really help us. Not to mention guys like Dipo, Payton should be better and AG should healthy and able to improve as well. I think we can expect better defense across the board too. 38 wins got Brooklyn into the playoffs last season, and i think we could see a number close to that get in again this season and I hope that is us. I would hope we could get at least one good reasonable free agent signing like Koufos here to help solidify our front-court, in which case I really think we do make the playoffs. Quote
Fultz4thewin Posted June 28, 2015 Report Posted June 28, 2015 too early for this. Gotta see at least one pre season game. Quote
Ibn Battuta Posted June 28, 2015 Report Posted June 28, 2015 Naa there's an expectation (I feel) to look like a coached team, to compete for a playoff spot. I wouldn't be disappointed if we missed the playoffs, but as long we're in the race that's reasonable to expect. Quote

Yea I think we will be in the playoff conversation most of the year, benefit of being in the East. Quote
TreyMachine Posted June 28, 2015 Report Posted June 28, 2015 Knowing how Scott Skiles has done in his first year of coaching with each team he's had and how weak the East is, my expectation is the 6-8 seed in the East and about 40 wins. I wasn't sold on a large jump last year with JV at the helm. I'm very, very sold on a playoff appearance this year. 2 Quote
HeHateMe Posted June 28, 2015 Author Report Posted June 28, 2015 too early for this. Gotta see at least one pre season game. Vegas doesn't think it's to early. It's just a prediction. We don't know exactly how things will look come opening night but I think we already know what the core of the team will be, and can base a prediction off that. Quote

Doesn't mean it's time to do a prediction thread especially when we don't know what the roster will look like. Quote
A Better DJ & Photographer Posted June 29, 2015 Report Posted June 29, 2015 I'm gonna join HeHateMe and ride with 38 wins. That would be a big improvement and we are overdue for that! Regardless of how many wins we get this is going to be a fun team to watch this season. We are a decent backup PG and a defensive PF away from having a full squad... let's see what Rob can do in FA Quote

We are a decent backup PG and a defensive PF away from having a full squad... let's see what Rob can do in FA That will be key. If we nab a PF in free agency that would solidify us at the very least making the playoffs with an 8 seed. Even as the roster stands, 38 wins may do it. Quote
TreyMachine Posted June 29, 2015 Report Posted June 29, 2015 Scott Skiles first/second years: Pre-Skiles: 27-23 Phoenix: 40-22 Phoenix: 51-31 Pre-Skiles: 30-52 Chicago: 19-47 Chicago: 47-35 Pre-Skiles: 26-56 Milwaukee: 34-48 Milwaukee: 46-36 Granted, some of these teams had NO talent. I just feel like the Magic are bursting at the seams and ready to win, especially in a weak east. If we don't win 37 games at least, I'll be sad. 1 Quote
HeHateMe Posted June 29, 2015 Author Report Posted June 29, 2015 Seems like most so far are right around 38 wins and at least competing closely for the 8 seed. I really think we should jump Boston and Brooklyn this year. Quote
