Fultz4thewin 2,464 Report post Posted June 29, 2015 Barcelona kept the rights to him in case of an unexpected quick return in Europe. Anyone care to go into detail on what this means? Don't like the way that sounds. Basically, if he hates it here and goes back to Europe he can't sign with a rival team. They're just protecting their interest. Fultz4thewin 2,464 Report post Posted June 29, 2015 Gotcha. Thanks. Yeah, furthermore his buyout was initially $2 million and likely held limited European rights provisions. It looks like they negotiated down to $1.6 and gave Barcelona additional considerations as part of the reduction. We'll probably provide the full $500,000 we're legally able to provide as part of the buyout and probably a decent chunk of his signing bonus will be sent over there. The rest will probably be taken care of through a low interest loan.

Philly can offer him the 625 because this is the second year since he's been drafted.

Philly can offer him the 625 because this is the second year since he's been drafted. That's what Rob said in the interview after the draft. An NBA team may contribute up to $625,000 for the 2015-16 season toward an international player’s buyout without that money being charged to the NBA team’s salary. http://www.orlandosentinel.com/sports/orlando-magic/magic-basketblog/os-mbb-mario-hezonja-buyout-20150627-post.html
