2013 - 2014 Regular Season Thread

Trading Davis will indeed free up floor time at the 4 but I don't understand why people think Harris should play the 4 but for short stretches at the most. He is going to have trouble at that position if he is expected to be there long term and IMO it's a terrible idea to tell a tweener like him to add weight. It won't change his height, but it will certainly change his vertical ability in a negative way. He doesn't have the post game to utilize extra weight at this point. Are we trying to turn him into Paul Millsap? His strength is his relative mobility for his size and skillset. Forget about what extra weight does to people with chronic ankle issues. Small sample size but last year the team had its highest win% with him at the 3, and his opponents PER was lowest at the 3. Granted he would attract more attention this time around so lets see how he progresses. I suspect what you see is what you get from him.

I suggest keeping him at the three where he can put up big numbers then package him for future considerations with the 2014 target being a dynamic wing moving forward. Mo will be the 6th man and play alongside dynamic wing while Oladipo runs the ship. Vuc and Nic can hold down the front court if our backcourt D is what I think it will be. Use vets to get more picks/young talent to provide young front court depth and a backup pg that can defend and hit the three.

Harris is our small ball 4. We aren't trying to make him a fulltime 4.

Also he had his worst PER at the 3.

True, I was more interested in what's best for the team though. His best PER was at Center, lets just small ball him there? Less Millsap and more Al Jefferson? A 6'8" version...

He played 39 total minutes at center I'm almost positive the majority of these center minutes occurred in a late season game against New York. Vucevic was injured and the Knicks played Kenyon Martin and Chris copeland at center.

So yes. Harris could play center when other tweener forwards or old pfs play center.

Gallinari, luol deng, chandler parsons, Wilson chandler, Jeff green, Harrison Barnes, antawn Jamison, Kevin Durant, Thaddeus young, Michael Beasley, Rudy gay.

All these players have significant minutes at pf last year. Why not Harris?

I don't really mind where Harris plays, as long as he plays. If he's barely getting any minutes because of Big Baby or Nicholson or something, that would be extremely annoying.

Once Harris and/or Big Baby are healthy, if Maxiell plays it is simply for tanking purposes, no question about that.

The number one goal, pretty obviously, is that Nik, Vic, Harkless, Tobias, and at this point Nicholson, get all the minutes those guys can handle.

Still trying to figure out how we got stuck with both Joey Crawford and Violet Palmer officiating Sunday's game. If there was a Mt. Rushmore for crappy refs, they'd be on it.

I was being sarcastic about the center comment, I have no problem with him being on the floor. If that means he's technically the center or running at PF that's fine but once we get to actually trying to win games I would not want him anywhere but the three...the same could be said for that whole list of players you mentioned with the obvious exception of Durant.

soo when do we stop talkin tank and start talkin playoffs?!

IMO it's time to do it. I was all in with the tank but this team is clearly too good to be losing a bunch of games.

Let's make the playoffs and maybe surprise the old ass Heat and Bulls ;)

It's been 5 games! Last year the magic were 12-13 before ending up winning 8 more games all year. The Bobcats started 7-5 last year and got a top 5 pick. Why don't people understand this?
