bhnole Posted June 28, 2007 Report Posted June 28, 2007 I won't be rooting for us to move up unless the deal is heavily in our favor, which is unlikely. Teams always overvalue their draft picks and this draft will be worse than ever. I will however be rooting for no stars getting traded tonight and all the teams pretty much keep their picks. Why? Because right now everyone wants a high lottery pick with any trade for veteran talent. With no picks this leaves the Magic out in the cold in any trade talks. That all changes after the draft! Once the draft is over everyone will be looking for expiring contracts, young talent or capspace. I want Kobe, Pierce, KG, Lewis, Marion, AK-47, Jermain Oneal, Ray Allen, among others all on the free agent market or trading market. Orlando suddenly becomes one of the top teams on everyone's speed dial when they need a trading partner. Our capspace, young talent (JJ, Trevor, Darko, Jameer, Diener, Fran??) and expiring contracts (Dooling, Garrity, Arroyo and Jameer again) make us a team with desirable assets which can facilitate a blockbuster deal. So join me tonight in hoping all the pre-draft talk turns out to be hot air, the real fun begins on Sunday! Quote
richnba Posted June 28, 2007 Report Posted June 28, 2007 RealGM - The Orlando Magic have traded a second round pick (54th overall) in the 2007 NBA Draft to the Houston Rockets in exchange for cash considerations, General Manager Otis Smith announced this afternoon. Orlando owns pick #44 during tonight Quote

CRAZY SERB Posted June 28, 2007 Report Posted June 28, 2007 does anybody else think that oden is overrated? sure, he looks like a great prospect and definitly the 1st pick but i have the feeling that some people look at him like he's the next wilt chamberlain - no, he isn't and probably never be. I think both Oden and Durant may be suffered from too much hype - there's going be an intense amount of pressure on both to succeed immediately, and fans will be unhappy if the Sonics and Trail Blazers don't start winning immediately. Nike Posted June 28, 2007 Report Posted June 28, 2007 Does anyone think Glen Davis/Big Baby will be available at #44? Some 'analysts' have him going late in the first round while others think he will slip to mid-second round. He mildly sprained his ankle but I think if he is available he would be a good gamble - another big man to backup Dwight, etc. Quote
bhnole Posted June 28, 2007 Report Posted June 28, 2007 He is a good gamble in the second round, but not the first round. Short, overweight bigs have a huge history of being busts. Quote

BRich Posted June 28, 2007 Report Posted June 28, 2007 Big Baby also sprained his ankle on the last day of workouts. I'm not sure if that really hurts his case or not - but it doesn't really help it. A lot of mocks had him moving into the late first round. Quote

If he sprained it at a buffett, then yes it will hurt his stock. Quote
