The Dwight Howard Drama Unfolds

Recommended Posts

How many times does this need to be said, IT WOULD BE BEYOND MORONIC FOR A MAX CONTRACT PLAYER TO EXTEND. Really its obvious he was never going to extend, same reason Bynum isn't going to extend, same reason Dwight's agent said he wasn't even going to extend in Brooklyn.

Not sure why people keep bringing this up and really where else is Dwight going to go that has cap? Dallas? Yea right, he will love it in LA.

Thats not the point, if you look at the state of LA it doesnt look good for them in the long term to not atleast get a verbal commit of some kind....

Half of the Lakers roster will still be over 33, next year. Dwight doesnt start the season with the Lakers. The Lakers get off to a rough 2012 start, maybe an injury or two happens through out the season. Dwight comes back to alot of expectations that he cannot full fill by himself. The Lakers fail, and get bumped out of the playoffs.

If the above scenario played out, what are the chances that a player like Dwight will look at the Lakers and say, "I want to extend"? Knowing full well that they wont be able to flip anyone until 2014, when Dwight is pushing close to 30 yrs of age?

it wouldn't be moronic for bynum.. I would take the money now. if he gets hurt and misses a significant portion of next season and finishes the year on the injury list recovering from another surgery it would be really tough to find a team willing to spend max money on him. if he stays healthy he'll scoop up the majority of the money he's missing out on in a future contract.

Why? The trade just happened, people are still discussing it. Let things simmer first.

theres no more drama, he's been traded. it's time to focus on are current roster, and focus on improving it. there's no need for a bunch of tards trying to tell us what we should have done. its over.

Closing the thread won't stop them from complaining.

Because they only have next year to win another championship so that is all they care about. Nash....old, Kobe...getting old, Gasol...best years probably behind him. They dont care about the future only the now, and adding another banner. Also I believe it is to really see how bad a coach Mike Brown is. You cant win with these guys then CYA!!

if they win a championship next year they'll have no problem resigning him because he knows the lakers will just reload after a few years and get more.

if they don't win he'll get disenchanted really quick.
