Aside from the Phoenix trade, what moves exactly? Duhon signing was bad but not a depth-stripper.

The Nets trade was his last decent move (including not re-signing Hedo). If he had stood his ground and not made his reactionary trades with the Suns and the Wizards we would have been in a much better place in terms of our roster, our depth, and our ability to make moves to improve our team.

 

Sure, we lost to Boston in the playoffs, and were in the middle of a pathetic 9 game losing streak that was kicked off by a nasty bout of the flu and guys not playing to their potential on the road, but did those trades make our team a better squad? Getting bounced in the first round against Atlanta says no. So, Otis weakened our team, gave up our depth (particularly Gortat), and put us in a worse financial position (hello J-Rich and Hedo). You can live with being in a worse financial position if you seriously upgrade the team, but was that the case? Not even a little bit.

 

Otis screwed this team over with those knee jerk reactions and deserves most, if not all of the blame for our current situation. I don't care if Dwight begged for bring Hedo back, Otis is the one that relented and made the move, and lost out on the deal immensely at the same time.

If we don't make that move, Anderson and Bass don't get extended minutes, we might not get BBD, and Anderson probably isn't as comfortable with a heavy load this year. Plus, it kept Duturd off the floor. Fine with that move and we cancelled it out anyway.

Definitely agree with this. BBD coming out the latter part of this season really gives me hope. He is a bonafide leader vocally and on the floor. He deserves starter minutes. A couple posters have suggested moving Ryan at the SF position. Is this possible as a triple threat for the frontline? This way, we can focus on getting a go-to scorer like Ellis at SG.

 

I look at our roster and there are most definitely holes, but there's some glimmer of promise there. Plus -- we still have Dwight Howard. Period.

Also, while it's true that we ended up being able to Amnesty Gilbert, that doesn't change the fact that it made our team less effective and put us in a worse financial position at the time.

True. Having the 3 PF's may have prevented Ryno's emergence. I'm happy with the situation we have now even with the Washington trade. You're right. It was the Phoenix trade that messed everything up.

J-Rich can easily be moved. You just won't get much value out of him.

 

Duhon and Turk are not movable at all though, unless packaged with Dwight.

 

 

Duhon can be waived from the team. that can be an option. Hedo needs to be forced into retirement because no team wants him no more.
