Scenario talk.

The league nowadays is what it is. Primadonnas, stars grouping up, big markets ruling, etc.

One scenario is Dwight says I don't want Stan.

Another scenario is Dwight talks to another star (ergo primadonna) who says "I'm game to team up, but not under Van Gundy".

And that's a different kind of cookie.

Could that be the case?

I can see this being the case,I don't think many players around the league respect SVG,he has called out Dwight many times over his career, other players see that and get a bad feeling about SVG attitude towards players.Shaq has called SVG the master of panic,Shaq has said great things about all the coaches he played for except SVG,there must be a reason SVG is hated by players, maybe he has a big ego.

Are we talking about the same Shaq who says stuff all the time for the rise of it.... the same Shaq who has boned his teammates wives..... the same Shaq that told Kobe he wouldnt win a ring without him.... the same Shaq that promised PHX a ring..... the same Shaq who has trashed Orlando over and over and over again?

He is a great source of information, I mean if Shaq says it.... there must be something to it.

What does this have to do with Shaq and SVG?

This team needs better players more than it needs a new coach.

A perfect example of the Magic needing "better" players was last night's game WITHOUT 3 of our starters. The rest of the players should have been able to step in, and at least win that game against the Pistons.

I don't want to hear about the shortened season and lack of practice time. ALL NBA teams were subjected to the same circumstances.

Bring in better players, and if things don't improve with the new personnel, then I would say fire the coach. It is not the coach's fault for the lack of (fill in the word or words) in the players that he is coaching.

I didn't expect us to win that game even if Dwight had played. I was surprised that, through Stan's coaching, we were able to come back and keep it close in the end.

Agree.....

We need better players...... Last night we gave up 56pts in the paint........ thats not a coaching problem.

You take the top three guys off any team in the NBA and they are going to struggle to win a game. Never mind the fact that the game was tied going into the fourth and was relatively close. You are absolutely right, our team should be so stacked, that we could lose our top three guys and still expect to win a game against another NBA team.

C'mon Echo......

No one s expecting a stacked team, except for LA....... Let me ask you this:

If every team lost there top 3 guys, where do you think the Magic would be in the pack, the top, middle or end?

All this is great, but if SVG is so great a coach, why have we got blown out by 20+ in like 6games this year?

You know Cap..... Im not sure how hard it is to find a center who can actually shoot free throws and play defense, a center who takes accountability for his actions which lead to losses like tech's, a center who isnt busy making movies and dreaming about other cities....... Dwight is a 20/15 guy, thats not hard to replicate or come close too. Dwight "SHOULD" be a 25/15 or 30/15 in my opinion, because he possess that kind of talent.

But yes, Dwight is the #1 Center and you cant just swap him out and expect not to lose anything return.

And the same can be said about SVG, you cannot just swap him out and expect not to lose anything.... His game plan has beaten alot of top coaches, and made us a consistent 50+ win team.

"IF" they did start to tune SVG out, which I would find it harder to believe now after watching Glen Davis last night talking about defense-defense-defense-defense.. then yes much like the recent Flip Saunders a change will be needed.... But the changes didnt stop there though, becuase they traded half their roster in addition to firing their coach. Which seems backwards... Maybe they should of got players who fit Flip's system before firing him.

But that is "assuming" the "IF" or even the "Rumor" is correct..... I dont live off of rumors so they are theoretically false by default.

So our problem has nothing to do with SVG and everything to do with the roster as a whole and who pieced it together with chewing gum.

Stan isn't the best coach in the league. The talent drop off between Stan and the next guy isn't nearly the same as the talent drop off between Dwight and any other center in the league.

Our problems as far as talent go are squarely on the shoulders of Otis, and he definitely needs to go, but if you have the best center in the league, and the second best center isn't really close in terms of talent (especially defensive impact which you shrug off as "a center who... plays defense" - we both know Dwight does a lot more defensively than just "plays defense"), a guy who you would pick first if the league re-drafted everyone, then yes, he is more valuable than Stan at that point if the only thing stopping him from signing long term is the coaching staff.

I don't like the situation, and it makes me lose a bit of respect for Dwight, but that's the reality of the situation.

Because SVG couldnt fill in as Center, during those games.... while SVG was playing at PG-SG-PF-SF-BENCH

This would the same as a Wide Receiver running the wrong route and blaming his QB.
