I don't doubt any of this. Dwight's comments in Esquire about Stan. Dwight's demeanor towards Stan during the game. Players not doing simple things that you learn to do in pe in elementary school. They've clearly tuned him out.

 

The only way you fire Stan is if Phil Jackson is coming through that door though. Other than that if it isn't a backwards move it will be a lateral one at best.

Unless Phil Jackson is coming here I would not want to fire Stan. This team needs better players more than it needs a new coach.

Stan is the best coach we have ever had, but he loses his stars. A lot of it is on the player being a baby. But this in the NBA, it is a prima donna league, and about any star player you love will become one.

 

What Stan did with this roster he was given by Otis is miraculous,but he can not adjust. The team's schemes without Dwight the past 2 games are awful.

 

Dwight wants a real team, not a college offense. That is what wins titles. Otis has not changed, SVG has not changed. Unfortunately it is too late now.

Scenario talk.

 

The league nowadays is what it is. Primadonnas, stars grouping up, big markets ruling, etc.

 

One scenario is Dwight says I don't want Stan.

 

Another scenario is Dwight talks to another star (ergo primadonna) who says "I'm game to team up, but not under Van Gundy".

And that's a different kind of cookie.

 

Could that be the case?

Well you all know I wish Dwight would act more professionally. That being said, it looks like the writing is on the wall for both Otis and SVG.

 

Get Walsh in here as GM, do your best to get a solid coach, and let's hit reset around Dwight.

Stan is one of the best X and O coaches in the league but managing NBA egos has never been his strong suit.

 

It cost him his job in Miami and it will likely cost him his job here.

 

I don't believe the decision was made before the post season even began like it was with Brian Hill but he would likely need to get this team to the Finals.

I laugh at the notion of some of you when your claiming that Dwight has more value than SVG......

You know that is the same thinking of Wizards fans when they were thinking about signing Arenas long term or not. Their reason is the same line that most of you are spitting out today regarding Dwight..... "He brings in more money"

 

Which is completely false.

 

Basketball is a team sport, not a individual sport...... there for when your "TEAM" is floundering and losing games with an "ALL-STAR" on the team, then you get the same effect as losing games and having "NO ALL-STAR"....... Low Attendance, Low merchandise sales, etc......

 

Its about winning..... nothing more, nothing less..... And the last time I checked they both (SVG and Dwight) have their faults, Dwight's is worst than SVG's in my opinion because his missed Free Throws cost us alot of games. But im sure hiring another Coach will magically fix that........

 

The sad part is the problem isnt so much SVG or Dwight...... its everyone else on the team. You have a whole roster of nothing, players hugely underachieving while others forgot how to F-ing play... some just dont care.... the others would be D-League material....

 

But nope, lets just focus on the crap that actually works and screw that up to solve our problems.

Unless, with a crappy coach, the Magic barely sniff the playoffs, maybe first round exit at best, year after year after year after year after year. Attendance will slowly start declining, fans will get fed up with Dwight for running the franchise's most successful coach out of town, and he'll probably leave anyways once he sees the grass truly isn't greener with a different coach, and leave us without a franchise player OR a great coach. While "franchise" players are hard to come by, it seems great coaches are even rarer. Right now, just about every team has a "franchise" player (heck, Miami has 2, maybe 3), but the list of "franchise" coaches is even slimmer.

 

I'm in the Keep "SVG at all costs" camp. We can draft new talent, we can bring in guys in FA, but to go from SVG (50+ wins every season, a trip to the Finals, two trips to the ECF) to someone like McMillan (who I don't think has ever won a playoff series) is downright awful.

 

We bring in players that will listen to SVG and lead by example on the court, we win games. We win games, the fans will come anyways. Winning sells tickets too.

 

SVG cannot win with this roster minus Dwight. I really don't see how anyone could. We lose Dwight and we and we will be looking at a season full of losses. SVG is not really the difference between winning games and losing. It is Howard.

You know Cap..... Im not sure how hard it is to find a center who can actually shoot free throws and play defense, a center who takes accountability for his actions which lead to losses like tech's, a center who isnt busy making movies and dreaming about other cities....... Dwight is a 20/15 guy, thats not hard to replicate or come close too. Dwight "SHOULD" be a 25/15 or 30/15 in my opinion, because he possess that kind of talent.

 

But yes, Dwight is the #1 Center and you cant just swap him out and expect not to lose anything return.

 

And the same can be said about SVG, you cannot just swap him out and expect not to lose anything.... His game plan has beaten alot of top coaches, and made us a consistent 50+ win team.

 

"IF" they did start to tune SVG out, which I would find it harder to believe now after watching Glen Davis last night talking about defense-defense-defense-defense.. then yes much like the recent Flip Saunders a change will be needed.... But the changes didnt stop there though, becuase they traded half their roster in addition to firing their coach. Which seems backwards... Maybe they should of got players who fit Flip's system before firing him.

 

But that is "assuming" the "IF" or even the "Rumor" is correct..... I dont live off of rumors so they are theoretically false by default.

 

So our problem has nothing to do with SVG and everything to do with the roster as a whole and who pieced it together with chewing gum.
