HANG TIME HEADQUARTERS – You don’t have to like Stan Van Gundy‘s style or the fact that he speaks his mind, even when he knows it’s going to get him in trouble with the powers that be.

But we love the fact that he is not afraid to tell you exactly what he thinks.

He was at it again before the Knicks knocked off the Magic last night at Madison Square Garden, making it clear that the Knicks and the Heat aren’t the only teams worthy of our attention.

From The New York Post:

"With Miami at the beginning of the year and New York since the trade, it's like, because so many people are interested in what happens with LeBron (James), (Dwyane) Wade and (Chris) Bosh and now with Carmelo (Anthony), Amar'e (Stoudemire) and Chauncey (Billups) you guys think our overwhelming (concern) is 'what's happening with Miami and New York?' Quite honestly, we don't give a damn," Van Gundy said. "We don't. I don't care. We're just getting ready to play them."

Van Gundy clearly had an issue with the media's obsession with the Heat and Knicks.

New York Post

Don't bother reading the comments from New York Post. Those people are as closed minded as a unplugged locked refrigerator door containing bread and we all know what happens to bread after a while.

Stan delivered a slap in the face to the media again saying that he doesn't give a damn about Miami. Quite frankly, he didn't give a damn at the start of this NBA season. However, the media persists for any other NBA coach to answer questions about New York or any unnecessary comment that is irrelevant to the game.

Stan Van Gundy could have taken his comments further. He could have included the favoritism on court by the officials on court. Wasn't Dick Bavetta officiating this game? Wasn't a Dwight Howard like elbow thrown without a technical or flagrant call? Amare violently swung his elbows in the same game without a technical being called either. Earl Clarks 3 fouls and 3 minutes that gave Melo a freethrow parade to the line after Hedo's foul trouble? How did Hedo get in foul trouble? Exactly...

The league is on a total roll at trying to save teams from total collapse. Such as shafting the Lakers to get Miami off their five game losing streak. I mean, somebody's gonna have to lose at the expense of the NBA making more money. Debits and Credits.

Why would he start to talk about the officiating BEFORE the game? Because that interview was before the game.

And I think Stan wants to concentrate on the playoffs rather than start to argue and get fined by nba.

The comments on the NBA article seem to all have noticed the obvious bias in officiating (other than the NY homers who think their team is getting the ship after this game).

I'm glad to see fans other than the ones on this board calling foul at the officiating (especially in OT last night). I can see Melo becoming a Most Hated player next season (only rivaling Lebron).

What I'm interested in is if the talking heads will bring it up.

My comments are meant to reflect Stan Van Gundy's comments after the game. I said he could have taken his comments further but apparently he didn't. He could have complained about officiating before the game too. Dwight is still is getting blitzed, hammered, thrown, slapped, and how there i 10 or so games left in the season without a Flagrant call on any of the defenders of the most fouled player in the NBA. He could have possibly ranted on how Ryan can't buy a flop call but apparently all Dwight's defenders can. He could have argued again how small market teams very existence or lottery teams, as they label them, are forgotten by fans and even the NBA media in itself.

I think Knicks fans should be more concerned with the fact their team is paying the max to a 28 year old with terrible knees.

that's the least of their worries, they need to get players to round out the rest of their roster. Otherwise they'll be continual 5-6-7 seeds.

Both Kornheaiser and Wilbon agreed that the refs handed NY that game on PTI today.

s/n: Can I use your sig on another board?
