20 years and I finally made it!

Recommended Posts

Great read, a lot of it reminds me of my first experience at the new Amway, it was my 27th Birthday and I was watching the bulls take on magic. I'm guessing as you remembered so much you didn't drink as much as I did, you put it in words very well. Good to hear you enjoyed Orlando, I knew you would. You will never want to go to London again haha

Great read Addi! Glad you made it in to our see our city. Tell you friends to come as well we need the business....

Too bad you never got to see a game in the old Arena. I love the new one but the miss the memories and charm the old one had. Someone should write a blog about it someday (not so subtle hint).

The Amway Center is nice. No, REALLY nice. I love the place. But one thing I wanted to do was go see the old Arena. So I drove up to it and BAM all the old Magic memories came rushing in. All the playoffs memories, all the great games, all the old players. I've never been there before but I felt bad standing next to it, walking around it, thinking it will be reduced to rubble soon. The shape and size of it was surprising. It was fun walking around it and taking it all in, looking at the design and hearing all the old sounds and noises of past years in your head. I guess I've been a fan of this team for so long that I almost felt I could hear the sounds, feel the atmosphere. Too bad I never got to see the Magic play in there, but the memories remain and at least I got to see it. And touch the ol' O-Rena.

How nice would it have been to have touched my tender juicyness as well? I am still hot and juicy in my new digs, and it is so greasy that my new sidekick, Tots On The Side (you can just call him TOTS) is gettin' play, but my old ghost still wanders the empty caverns of the O-Rena concourse, looking for my old homies. Just one more time I'd like to be eaten by the greatest fans in the NBA.

Who could forget the early years? They never quite replaced the charm of crack houses & bums sleeping in the grass when entering from Colonial side.

Awesome photos Addi...the ladder sculptures are definitely interesting....that was one thing that wasn't quite ready for opening night.

Also, the weird dancing old people from the Villages always disturb me. I keep remembering the stories I've heard of rampant VD up at that place.

Anyway...awesome addition to the story.

Your such a tourist addi :P lol but good read. I'm glad you had fun.

It makes me stop and remember to not take what I have here for granted.

I thought the same. Just the fact that he is so excited to come here was cool to me. Since I have lived here so long, I just get that nice "I'm home" feeling, but when I go to NYC or LA, I feel like Addi does. So I can relate to that.

EDIT : Dwight, I didn't mean that last part at all.

Im sorry but If i wanted to read a book I would go to the library

So then don't, no one held a gun to your head forcing you to read or post in this thread or on this forum for that matter.

Edit- I guess I should have known it was Curran. Add another failure to his list. Maybe we should all take a ride out to Universal and visit you at the Simpsons ride.

He doesn't strike me as the type of person who would spend any time at the library, either.

Thanks guys! Glad you like the write up. Yes, I'm coming back. Soon! I have already checked on airline tickets and I was looking at houses to rent today. Definately coming back.

Ok I'm experiencing some annoying bugs... Can't get into the forum for 3 or more hours and then get a 5 minute window before it kicks me out again. I have not found a solution for this problem yet. I've checked with my internet provider, they say it's a website/server problem, I know a few more people are having the same problems every now and then.

But... more pics. We took around 3000 pics during our stay, 2000 of those ended up on Facebook. Here are a selected few.

My older niece and her boyfriend

Stuff!

This guy... I was sure it was Jareth!

I forgot to tell you about a funny incident with Stuff. As you can see in some of these pics, he was fooling around quite near us (Wiz game). He jumped on the rail there and I heard something that made me turn around and when I looked back he was standing RIGHT NEXT to my mom, in our row. I pointed at him and yelled STUFF! He got all fired up, threw himself on top of my mom and my niece's boyfriend and I couldn't stop laughing. I got it all on video! But when I got home and wanted to check out the video.. it wasn't there. I WAS BUMMED OUT... I was more bummed out than after the the loss to the Kings. It was just an awesome experience!

It was really nice walking out to Gentleman's Jack after the game. Quite a lot of people there and lots of laughs and good chats going on
