Captain Hi-Top Posted February 2, 2011 Report Posted February 2, 2011 bj and i have gone back and fourth on many issues in the past few years. i believe since 2006. we have debated and disagreed on a number of things. however now we have 2 ideas that we feel the same about. one is the improvement of jj and two the need for a better starting pg. why do you think the sf position is getting killed. part of it is we can not stop pg penetration. pg gets beat help comes pg passes to open player to score. anyone on this board that thinks we do not need better defense at pg is not facing reality. nelson is a good player and a tough guy but would be better off playing on the second unit. i also have to say gilbert is not the answer. this team is very good but to be great they need to learn how to defend at the pg and ball movement. great shooters but no passing consistently. one last thing, and it may be just me, but has howard ever took responsiblity publicly ror his resonsibility for the teams poor play. i know he is a great player but just asking. We've had a couple of years now under SVG where we've had the leagues top or one of the top defenses. With Jameer running the show. While we all agree we COULD upgrade defense at the PG position, it is not the most important position we need to upgrade in terms of defense. It's just the easiest for certain people to point at because they want to keep repeating the fact that Jameer is short. Quote

The Magic scored 124 points against the Thunder in Oklahoma City so to say they are a good defensive team is complete garbage. It's trickery. He writes it wanting you to think they are a great defensive team, but he never actually calls them a great defensive team. He says they are one of the leagues best, most cohesive units. Sure, they have good chemistry, and play well together, but mostly on the offensive end. Quote

They simply see his height and discredit him. As if a few inches makes somebody an unbelievable defender automatically. You know who was a pretty good defender? Muggsy Bogues. Say something. 30Assists Posted February 2, 2011 Report Posted February 2, 2011 I'm not worried: D'Wade will eventually pull one of his mega-flops, untouched, going to the basket, and get hurt. Of course, having LeBron on his team means he has to do less of that kind of stuff, but I'll still wait and see if Wade can actually stay healthy clear through the playoffs. All that falling, flailing, and flopping has got to take its toll eventually. Mike Miller, for as good an offensive player as he is, will likely get hurt, and his defense is nonexistant. Sure - he's a tough one to guard, but who's he going to guard on the other end? Running around chasing any of our 2s or 3s, that jumper's going to start rimming out. Bosh kind of reminds me of Horry back in the day - a talented, smart player, but one hard foul early in the game and he's out of it. It'll come down as much to whether the Magic have their head in the game or not. We would have been in the finals last year if the team hadn't fallen asleep for the first three games of the Celtics series. No matter what, it should be a good playoffs this year. GO MAGIC. Quote

I see that working for the Heat. Nelson is going to break Wades ankles. The example that was given as to a success was the Thunder? GREAT offensive team. Poor Defensive team giving up 102.7 ppg.
