This Team is Better With.....

Recommended Posts

No he didn't. . . and as stated countless times, Arenas starting over Jameer would be SVG's biggest mistake

It's clear your not very bright. Go take a look at his ESPN stats for the Month of Dec and the partial month of Jan before you make stupid posts.

And to your opinion, well.....If you don't even know what a person was averaging the previous year at this time...well, what good is that. As a long time season ticket holder who enjoys some personal friendships with knowledgeable magic members, I can tell you that it's definitely on the table. It's all up to Gilbert now.

Arenas' totals for the season before the suspension:

PPG 22.6

APG 7.2

PER 18.7

TS% .511

RPG 4.1

SPG 1.3

not 25/10 but still pretty damn good - only real bad thing was TO = 3.7 ... Jameer is at 2.5 and his PER is 18.3 right now

Off the bench or starting - whatever - who cares...we now have a very very good PG rotation...this time last week when Jameer sat - off the bench we had Chris MFKN Duhon - this time last year we had JWill or Anthony Johnson...this year we have EITHER Jameer Nelson or Gilbert Arenas - is either option really that bad - either way our PG are going to destroy second units...

If you look at last season as a whole he wasn't close to 10 assists per game. If you look at "this time last year" he wasn't close to ten assists per game. If you look at January (we aren't there yet), he averaged 11 per game for the month. So what, it's a very small time frame, you know why? he only played two games in January. It's meaningless. That's like me saying he was shooting 22% from behind the arc this time last season because that was his average for those two games last January.

I guess that in some weird world where 8 is the same as 10, you're right. . .

Oh yeah, and not to mention you said he averaged 25 and 10 a year ago, I guess you should've been more specific and said he averaged 25/8 for a stretch of 17 games. Last year he averaged 24/7 on well below average efficiency and an extremely high usage.

Look at December

numbers for December 37.2 134-313 .428 38-103 .369 72-97 .742 1.4 0.4 3.7 3.4 0.9 4.1 5.0 7.6 25.2

Look at the start of January

Numbers for January 36.5 16-40 .400 2-9 .222 8-10 .800 1.0 0.0 1.5 3.5 0.0 2.0 2.0 11.0 21.0

You don't just average the averages to get to the raw number. Math doesn't work the way you think it does.

January is two games. Two. He did not average 10 assists per game over the course of December and January.

December - 7.6 assists per game @ 15 games = 114 assists

January - 11 assists per game @ 2 games = 22 assists

Assists averaged for December/January = (114+22) / (15 +2) = (136/17) = 8 per game

I broke this out separately.

You can ONLY look at the start of January, because he only played in 2 games for the entire month. Get it?

It's clear your not very bright, stop making stupid posts.

If you want to come in here and share "insider info" with people, cool. Some might believe you, most probably will not. But don't start badly butchering and misquoting stats, then get pissy and call people stupid for pointing it out to you. You will lose and sense of credibility you are trying to earn, and this community will eat you up.

Just some friendly advice.

Nelson is averaging 7.1 assists for the current season. Unless we want to use your fuzzy math and blast him for only averaging 3.5 assists per game in the entire month of October (both games).

No one's blasting him, he's playing well. But let's be real. Gilbert clearly has shown a much higher talent level than Jameer in the past. Whether that's(to be specific) 25 & 7 or 21 & 11 and he has the height to see over a taller defender which leads to seeing the floor better which leads to higher assists.

Jameer is a very, very good point guard but he does not have the skills that Gilbert has shown in the past and we hope will do so again. If he does, Gilbert will be the new starter of the Magic. If he doesn't, he'll be a solid 6th man.
