Hey, have you talked with Povtak recently? Not over the weekend...but when I talked to him Friday night I told him to do some diggin' which I'm sure you've seen what he posted yesterday. When he and I originally started discussing this situation he told me then and there he didn't think the Magic would take on Okafor's contract. I think you saw what I posted Friday was that Povtak spoke to some team executives whom stated that the Magic were preparing an agressive trade proposal to the Hornets if they came calling. Evidently someone whom he thinks is in the know has told him what he posted yesterday. I'll give him a call soon...he's very accomodating and a genuinely nice guy. I wonder what the Magic would counter with if they just absolutely DON'T want to take Okafor back? Maybe take Peja? But Peja can actually bring them value. Quote
Live or Die Magic Posted July 26, 2010 Report Posted July 26, 2010 To Jareth and Echo: No, I didn't like it when T-Mac did it. But I also feel that the two situations are different. Paul is responding directly to what his USA Team "buddies" are doing. He feels left out and has decided to pout about it. Also, you are forgetting just how much of a factor Puckhead was in that whole drama. I find it hard to believe that Bower was as difficult to deal with. Quote

I thought there were rumors he wanted out during last season? We might have had Puckhead, but Paul had to deal with Shinn as well. Quote
otis_smith Posted July 26, 2010 Report Posted July 26, 2010 why do we have like 3 chris paul thread going on....omg, 3 chris paul threads on ozone? cp3 to orlando? could it be? -PM from Jareth. Quote

Kobe didn't pout? (If he didn't play for the Lakers, he would have been traded) Gasol didn't pout? I mean, superstar players pout all the time. Hell, Nick Young is probably pouting because he doesn't get enough playing time. The only reason we are hearing about it is because it's Chris Paul. Quote

He gave West big money. He took on the Okafor contract. He is a crappy owner - in general - but he has put money into the roster. And sure...I'd love to have Paul on the Magic. But it seems clear that Paul is the type of player that will bolt in two season if we haven't won the title yet, and maybe even if we do. Or he'll try to convince Howard to join him in NY. Quote
Natesroom Posted July 26, 2010 Report Posted July 26, 2010 JJ pouted and demanded a trade... Steve Francis pouted like 2 (once before he had even played an NBA game)times and got traded. I think what we're missing in the NBA is character... We have Characters but they dont have it on the inside. It really is almost a reflection of our youth and they're upbringing Quote

We are talking about the best point guard in the league (when age is factored in) and he is pulling this stunt with TWO YEARS left on his contract! He wants to be just like his buddies. And look...I'd like him on our team...I just don't like what is means for the power the star players have over the competitive balance of the league. Quote
Chase Posted July 26, 2010 Report Posted July 26, 2010 With or without the trade we're still favorites. I would just like to see another LEGIT All-Star around D12. Quote

At least Lebron and Bosh leaving was completely within their right. They were free agents and it was their choice to leave. That's part of the business. Chris is still under contract and shouldn't be doing this. At the very least do it behind closed doors. I don't mind because it might bring him to the Magic. But, it's still not right. Quote
otis_smith Posted July 26, 2010 Report Posted July 26, 2010 Hello People? NO is rejecting all offers because they have already agreed to trade him to us? It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that out. Great job of reporting, Stein. Quote
