AddiFB Posted July 1, 2010 Report Posted July 1, 2010 I always wanted to show you guys this, but always forgot... Back in 1993 my mom gave me my best birthday present ever... A trip to London to see the Magic play against the Hawks in two exhibition games. I was told about the trip the night before we flew out and I went nuts. Being the lone Magic fan in my neighbourhood, I ran straight out and to a couple of my friends who were like "Yeah right bullcrap you bullcrapping bullcrapper pfff liar" but I was so shocked I couldn't even convince them. Some even said "So? It's not the Bulls!" Anyways, the next morning we flew to London, my very first time there (since then, I've been there 14 times, 15 total that is). I bought Shaq shoes, full Magic training gear, Magic hats, shirts... everything Magic I could find and if I remember correctly, there were alot of NBA gear available in London then. We were walking on Oxford Street when I saw this sports store called JD Sports and there were alot of people there, so I stuffed myself in there and behold... Nick Anderson and Nique! Signing autographs! Being 12 year old, a big hoop fan and NBA stars being so "unreal" and "distant", something we at home were not The games were held at the Wembley Arena which to me, was pretty big. We arrived about an hour before tip off and I remember seeing Stuff running around and I was like... STUUUUUUFF!! I remember seeing the guys warm up on the court and it was just so weird seeing Shaq with my own eyes for the first time. It was surreal. I was also extatic to see Nique, Kevin Willis, Stacey Augmon and other Hawks... but my eyes were glued on Shaq, 3-D, Nick Anderson, Scott Skiles and just the entire Magic lineup... There was also this rookie... I remember how the roof seemed to rip off the arena when Shaq dunked for the first time... and each time Kevin Willis grabbed a rebound, there was a crazy BAM! echo around the arena. Strong fella... After game 1, which the Magic won after a big fourth by one of my favs, 3-D, I went down near the court to try to see the guys up close. I was shocked how big they were. Of course I was 12, but Kevin Willis seemed so huge. Even Nick seemed tall and big... then this huge shadow approached and I remember backing up to a wall, in awe, as Shaq walked right past me and put a hand on my head. I was starstruck. I stood there for probably 10 minutes with my jaw on the floor and my eyes crossed. Wish I could find the instacam pics I took, but they don't really matter because they were blurry and just bad. If I find them one day I'll scan them in and post them, but don't hold your breaths for it hah... But what I wanted to show you guys was this. Nick Anderson autograph: Scores: 10/30/93 Orlando Magic 120 - Atlanta Hawks 95 10/31/93 Atlanta Hawks 113 - Orlando Magic 101 Quote

IronMaiden Posted July 1, 2010 Report Posted July 1, 2010 You wouldn't be talking about the Shaq shoes that looked like zebras, would you? If so, I bought those shoes. I think that was more like 95/96 though. I felt like such a badass with those shoes on, in my driveway, stuffing home alleyoops I made my brother toss me on my 8 foot goal lol. Quote

Hah no it wasn't the zebra shoes, just some shoes that had some "SHAQ 32" logo on it. Not from Reebok. Can't remember what brand it was, just some fake stuff but it made me SO excited! I got the zebra shoes and the black and white shoes later though. Still own them Quote
