I like him, but not for big money. And I kinda hated seeing him get destroyed by pierce, when Barnes biggest attribute was supposed to be defense. Good guy, but only for the right price.

If Barnes is looking for $5 mil a season, he won't be playing anywhere let alone Orlando.

 

He not only was only mediocre at guarding Pierce, he was a constant liability on offense all year. Without being able to make a shot from anywhere otehr than a layup defenders didn't even have to think about guarding him. (Though, this is on SVG a bit, when you have a player who can't shoot he should slash more. but he sat in the corner..That's on Stan.)

I love Barnes on the team - but he's not a starter. He's "asking" for $5m multiple years. He's getting $1.6m this yr. Hopefully he negotiates down to around $3.5m/3yrs because he definitely is the type of player a championship team usually has coming off their bench.

Man, it seems to me that Barnes actually did okay on Pierce. I don't remember Barnes getting lit up by Pierce.

ugh man how do we use that MLE (around $6m) 1: to sign Barnes and a 3d PG or 2: sign JJ and 3d PG or 3: fill our 2nd and 3d PG holes... very tough decision because we lose key elements either way. There has to be a trade no matter what.

I dont know the answer to your question but I do know that restriced FA's dont require the use of exceptions due to their bird rights. Therefore, we dont need to use an exception to retain the rights of Redick. But, I bet Redick is a goner anyway.

 

Its a shame we cant keep Barnes, too bad he is stuck on opting out of his contract(he signed a two year deal). If it werent for the CBA expiring after next season I bet he doesnt opt out. He would actually be worth what he's asking if he came back improved next season and we won the 'ship.
