NBA 2K10 or NBA Live '10

Recommended Posts

Live made improvements but 2k8 is still better than live 10. 2K is years ahead, EA is only good at making Fifa and NHL games. Everything else they have been putting out is crap. If you want the best basketball game 2k 10 is not even close in comparison. I want to know what Dwight says when his game that he preaches everyday is so awesome gets bashed by critics and fellow gamers. He needs to quit saying that oh my name is behind it now its awesome now crap. Because I have played the demo and it sucks.

Anyway, 2K is better in the basketball department.

I agree. They just update rosters and change the look.

In soccer they sometimes add a new move and fix mistakes they had on the old version, but it only takes a few weeks for guys to find new ones.

For example with FIFA10 from EA some guy in England found a way to select the best players and put them on the same team. He's able to play with this team online and even puts it on youtube so everyone can see it.

It's the world of profiting, they could release a game every 2-3 years but as a business and in economics you want to maximize profits right?

You see it with cellphones and ipods, they released the first Nano AFTER the iPod video. We all know video support probably could of been added to the first Nano as well, but no what did Apple do? They released a 2nd version of the Nano with a different look and few UI differences with video support...

Of course sports games are the same deal here, it pisses you off when you really think of it but people still buy and they still profit.

i just got done playing 2k10. - and after playing for about 4 hours through, i can say that i'm rather dissapointed.

maybe its just me, but 2k9 seemed more fluid. in 2k 10 the players at times feel sluggish or slower.

other notes:

good/bad, your teammates will make stupid mistakes like illegal 3 seconds, reach-ins (they do it a lot more than 2k9). etc. I think that is good thing, but it geets really irratating when the game is on the wire.

graphics seem to be alittle better than 2k9. most players look like real. although, rashard does resemble courtney lee a little bit.

if you go out of bounds, your gonna get a turn over no matter what. not like in 2k9 where they made you tip toe or something.

stealing the ball is a lot easier, esp if your coming from behind. ohh and if you jump into the shooter during a shot, it's gonna be a foul-esp if it's kobe or lebron at the end of the game shot.

Gameplay-seems very similar to 2k9, not much change here, same controls etc. announcers are still annoying as hell. don't start throwing the ball everywhere, sooner than later, they're gonna end up throwing it to the other team or out of bounds. (brandon bass can't pass or catch long plays)

With that said, i feel it's like playing nba 2k9.5. still a good game, but no enough improvement to make me want to pay 65 dollars. on the other hand, i ve really been watching nba live 10. I have live 08 and it sucked!!!! but live 10 wow. plus the mastermind behind 2k is now we EA. so i'll try live 10 and see it that will help me make the switch to live this year.

2k makes the players slower now, because they are trying to make it as realistic as possible. Some ppl like that, and I do. BUt I also wish it had some video game to it... It's crazy how realistic (besides how they end up scoring half the time) it is. THeir speeds, shots n everything.

But Live is more fun for me because it is just a straight up video game of basketball, and I've played too much 2k9 to appreciate 2k10. It is 2k9 w/ fixes pretty much.

Is it just me or do the graphics looks worse in 2k10. It must be just me cuz everyone else disagrees.

Ok so my friend has a modded xbox, and I played 2K10 last yesterday.

IMO they really did improve on the natural things, like Nelson just can't throw a pass from the top of the key into the paint and it always go to Dwight like in 2K9.

-Bass is SLOW! I tried to run down someone on a fast break and just laughed at how slow he was.

-Dwight missed 2 dunks all game, and a few easy lay-ups he'd make in 2K9. Bass also missed some close buckets.

-Rashard's shot is probably better in Live this year, it's a little off. Pietrus is good, I hit some nice shots with him.

-Jameer isn't much different, he's got his mid range on point and a 3 pt specialist.

-J Will is nice! He's got some speed, and probably the fastest (so it seems) out of any Magic player.

I checked out Lebron, Wade, and Kobe in the practice session and they look pretty good to me.

I'd have to play the real Live 10 to decide the pros and cons of each so not trying to sell one off without playing the other.

I'm really leaning toward Live right now. They look like they're bringing it this year. I read the IGN review and they gave it an 8.2 which really told me something. And...it helps that Dwight's on the cover this year. lol.

i have now played both versions on modded xbox. i'm going to buy live 10. (i want to play on xbox live)

graphics was a toss up, but i think 2k has the slight edge.

shot appearance, live seemed to have the edge. Rashard and kobe look awesome.

live focus on differnt things than 2k.

for instance, live makes use of dribble moves while 2k focuses on shot selections and look of the shot ie shot stick.

live gameplay was faster and easier to learn than 2k. 2k seemed a tad more real, but in doing so lost some of its fun factor.

stealing the ball in live is harder than 2k.

this year live did it for me. it edged out 2k. however, i think you could go either way on this. you could flip a coin to decide and trust me, you'll be happy with either game. i just prefer the run and guy style game play of live.
