I have bashed moves by the front office and bashed aspects of players games but have never said I did not want someone on this team, not even JJ. Now if you mean I don't always join in the daily narrow minded Homerism on this board, then you would be correct. Truth is I have probably supported this team longer and more than you. I had season tickets for the first 9 years and went 2 games when no one was there. I have also had 2 family members work for the organization. So don't act like I don't Love this team, I love it so much I get very passionate about what goes on. VaBchMagicFan if you think that the Magic get a fair shake from the NBA and Stern you are mistaken. Again, the suspensions and punishments are not consistent in the NBA. Artest was suspended for 7 games for domesic violence. Are you telling me that taking a supplement warrants more punishment that beating your wife? Carmelo Anthony was suspended for 2 games for DUI arrest. Ricky Davis was only suspended for 5 games for drugs. I feel bad for Lewis and the Magic. They got screwed imo. Quote

Your still not getting the point, first time positive test is an automatic 10 games. It doesn't matter what you test positive for and certainly doesn't matter who you play for. The conspiracy theories are getting old, we get treated by the league the same as any other. Now the media is another story but who cares. As long as we win I don't care what the media says. Quote

I think 10 games is fair for a positive test of a banned substance. Now if you want to argue that the substance list is crap, well thats another story. I'm not saying that Melo or others didn't deserve more. But unfortunately their is not a guaranteed suspension rule to those infractions. You can come up with well he did worse in anything. I mean Michael Vick got 2 years in a federal prison for dogfighting and Dante Stallworth spent 24 days in jail for killing a guy while driving drunk. Quote
Fultz4thewin Posted August 8, 2009 Report Posted August 8, 2009 yeah 10 games isn't a big deal. Im sure the NBA is conscious of the non-issue. They just had to suspend them because they didn't want to establish a precedent for players getting off with no punishment for failed tests. Quote
Ullan Posted August 9, 2009 Report Posted August 9, 2009 certainly don't like that it is one of our guys that has to suffer, and the rules are only explicit on some things, hence the perceived inconsistencies with suspensions etc, but when it comes to writing up regulations there are some things that probably pop into the bigwigs heads a lot sooner than others i.e. I think it is understandable that there is set protocol for drug-related issues and I am not surprised that there isn't a specific punishment for wife-beating. That being said, I think when deciding on punishment for offenses not stricly stipulated they should consider some of the other regulations to maintain some sort of parity. That Stallworth/NFL case particularly sickens me. Anyhow, like I said, it sucks it is our guy losing out and I fully support Lewis in what he says, but if this incident sets a good precedent and saves the NBA from deteriorating into an MLB farce, then I think it is a good thing. TheDarkSide Posted August 9, 2009 Report Posted August 9, 2009 As crazy as this sounds I am glad Lewis is suspended for 10 games, even if it is minor. We don't want the NBA to turn into the MLB and have every one on the juice. The MLB never acted and let the problem get worse to where it is today. It may start off with a small issue like Lewis had, but then it gets bigger and bigger. So its a small price to pay. But again the NBA said only one ref was beting on games, which we all know is crazy and he needed help to determine an out come. Forget it, I give up. I will start to watch curling. Quote
Magicfan1961 Posted August 9, 2009 Report Posted August 9, 2009 I am sure Lewis will learn from this and will not do it again. I still believe in him and support him. We will be fine. Go Magic. Quote
