So please tell me what can we do with Nelson and Alston? Do we ask the Stern to extend the games to 15 min per quarter so both have enough min? The only reason why Alston came here was b/c Nelson got hurt and Otis made the deal b/c he knew trading Alston was going to be easy due to the exp contract. Lee has a bright future, but again...it's a future while VC is the present! This thread fails!

AMIRITE??!! 8) No, I just feel that without Lee, Alsotn, Turk, and Battie we will be way worse off. VC was totally not worth it IMO. How exactly? The players led us to the finals and we traded them away for an aging Vince Carter who has done next to nothing in the playoffs over the course of his career. alston/battie were overpaid backups. you're acting like lee is going to be starting an all star game any time soon, he wont. he probably will never be an all star reserve either. your logic is awful
COLOMBIANO 118 Report post Posted June 30, 2009 quote: Originally posted by davcivic: Courtney Lee hurts, but remember he was a second round pick. He was very good, but was never going to be a superstar in this league. We got in return a stud in VC that can easily replace CLee in the lineup. PLUS we got Anderson, another great young player, great shooter and rebounder. Lee was not a second round pick and who knows if he will be an all star in the future

I agree with the short term thing. Just like what we(Cavs) are doing with Shaq.
Nelson3 0 Report post Posted June 30, 2009 quote: Originally posted by fishybashi:I actually agree with this. We were an up and coming young team with a unique chemistry who suprised everybody and made it to the finals ... who just lost 2 major pieces who contributed to getting us into the finals. Plus, we would have been primed to possibly pick up Bosch, and now we inherited another 16 mil plus 32 y.o. guy who hasn't really proved he can lead his team deep in the playoffs (like say a Wade or Lebron can...) And... we, all of a sudden, are a tad bit older as a team.... Time to rekindle new chemistry too.... In other words, we CANNOT afford to lose HEDO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Primed to pick up Bosh? If we kept Hedo, we would be paying luxury tax. No room to sign hardly anyone, let alone a superstar in his prime looking for a big payday. Carter actually gives us more flexibility in two years with a big expiring deal.

But if Varejao does leave, i guess Cleveland needs someone else to play the "Flopper" position

magicfan83 23 Report post Posted June 30, 2009 IMO you can't judge the trade until the roster is complete. There is no way of knowing how much better or worse we will be until we have more than 8 guys on the roster. IMO once the roster is complete we will have a much more versatile roster that can match up big with a healthy Boston and LA, and still go small with Cleveland. If we land a starting quality PF, we shore up rebounding issues, and Carter takes care of the ball better than Turk and helps control our turnover problems.
