barnettej 263 Report post Posted July 19, 2013 My favorite time of the season for the NBA. Rule change, sometimes its for the good.... sometimes not so much. Either case they provide a wealth of interesting topics to cover as they unveil the new wrinkles in live action. Keep in mind that this event has given us some fun stuff to talk, and balk about. Truely my favorite change from the past was the Basketball itself... ahhh what a huge failure that was. So with out further ado, here is what we have: The NBA’s Board of Governors announced Thursday five minor rule changes, including a number of tweaks to the league’s instant replay and video review system. Instant Replay Changes Charging/Blocking will now be reviewable, to determine where the player was in relation to the restricted area. Off-Ball Fouls are now reviewable to see if it happen before a successful shot or after During the reviews by refs, they are now "permitted" to apply any unsportsmanlike penalties on other players. Rule Modifications Clear Path Foul, isnt considered clear path if the defender's position is ahead of the offensive player. Team wills lose possession of the ball, if a player is caught standing out of bounds without immediately coming back into bounds Other Notes Flopping rule will remain weak and become another distraction this year Shooting in the act of being fouled, is now reviewable HGH testing Postponed A 4th Ref maybe used during playoffs as a replay official, to cut down on replay reviewing time. All in all, beside the reviews of blocks and charges... there isnt going to be much difference. Story links: ESPN Sports Ill Yahoo
