Nelson Aftershock: Magic Make Two Changes In Starting Line-up

Jameer Nelson's injury has had a domino effect on the Magic.

The club is expected to make two changes in its starting lineup tonight when they face the L.A. Clippers.

One, obviously, is Anthony Johnson will start at the point for Nelson.

Two, Mickael Pietrus will return to the starting lineup at shooting guard in place of rookie Courtney Lee, who will come off the bench as the backup point guard to Johnson.

Coach Stan Van Gundy said those changes were likely, and that 6-10 small forward Hedo Turkoglu also will handle the ball with Nelson out.

JJ?

More minutes to be had indeed. I would say we'll see more J.J. - which also means that sooner or later Bogans might be back in the regular rotation..

;-)

But I hope not. If Redick plays like he did during that stretch a few weeks back it'll help quite a bit.

This is an experiment IMO. If Lee performs as the backup PG, we'll likely back off the trade market.

There's really no better team to experiment against than the Clippers either. Smart move by SVG.

Not that it pushes us off the trade market, but it takes away our desperation. That helps our bargaining position.

I really don't think Otis wants to make a trade. He wants to save every penny he can for Hedo this offseason. If Lee doesn't work as backup PG we'll probably sign a vet or we'll deal Bogans and/or Cook for a vet with a pretty small contract.

We need to use all 4 SG's...Lee as the backup PG...Pietrus as the starter...then Bogans and JJ as the backup 2's with Bogans and Pietrus seeing minutes at SF...

I think they might all see playing time...which can be good to build value on Bogans or JJ...

who knows...this is the start of the season for us...

I agree, but he has to leave options open, and every little bit helps.
