Schmitz and Co.(Press Row) were making bets on J.J. last night(link)

We were taking bets (for entertainment purposes only) on press row just how many times in the opening minutes that Mitchell would send Redick's man, Anthony Parker, at him. But Parker didn't atack J.J. at all, and Redick held his own quite well.

While Redick and his legion of fans might be excited, here's the catch: J.J. will likely be back on the bench, playing behind Pietrus subs Keith Bogans and rookie Courtney Lee. He might not play for a while, other than mop-up minutes --- and he knows it.

Maybe he enhanced his value, but even other teams want to see a little more of his shooting stroke.

GM Otis Smith and Coach Stan Van Gundy say they like all their SGs, but let's be honest: They can't play all four of them. Somebody is going to get moved --- Redick or Bogans, perhaps at the trade deadline, maybe along with power forward Brian Cook, for a scoring PF.

I was wondering the same thing last night...why didn't the Raptors attack Redick...

Your thoughts...?

LOL

quote:
Tuesday night, he got his first NBA start (for the injured Mickael Pietrus), scored 10 points on 4 of 9 shooting in a career-high 34 minutes. He at least felt like a contributor for the first time in his three-year Magic career.

And here's the biggest part of his night: J.J. didn't get burned defensively, although I blame Raptors Coach Sam Mitchell for that (along with leaving Jameer Nelson open repeatedly, fearful Rashard Lewis would burn them deep. Did he see what Lewis was shooting from 3-point land?).

Don't make it too obvious junkie.

Yeah, you're probably right...I guess teams have caught word of J.J.'s over the summer commitment to weightlifting and his new found quickness...

Oh, and most importantly his commitment to defense!

Great game last night J.J.!!! Keep up the good work.

Go J.J. Redick!!!!!

Go Magic!!!!!!!

JJ held his own against a player that "didn't attack him at all"? No Way!

JJ aparently cannot be objectively evaluated on this board.

Last night was either a lucky day againts the worst players in the history of the NBA or the greatest performance since Ali beat Frazier.

Objectively, a bench player gets his first start, holds his own, should be back on the bench for the next game. Good day for the Magic.
