Both Clifford and Skiles left because management made moves that drastically changed the future of the team and made it more of a rebuild than they signed up for. It’s hard to do after the last decade of dreadful basketball we’ve had but we have to try to treat this as a new opportunity to right the ship long term. There’s a few potential coaches to be really excited about, even if they don’t have a ton of experiences

I think best case for Davion Mitchell is the guard version of what Draymond Green wound up being when he was drafted. Main difference is Dray fell to the 2nd round and Davion will probably go in the lottery

More thoughts on Brian Shaw, he was a real deal candidate awhile ago, got a shot and it didn’t work out. He’s still been active, and he coached the G League ignite last year where both Jalen Green and Jonathan Kuminga played. My early guess, without any inside information is Brian Shaw is our next Head Coach

Yeah, but sometimes you gotta use the unknown to your advantage too. Like sure if we get 1 and 8 we become more appealing, but what if we come out of the draft with like, only 6th? Wouldn’t that hurt us to the opposite extreme. I agree it’s a quick timeline, hopefully it’s something that’s been known for awhile and management has already been working on who’s next. Or it was a surprise, we love the direction, we promote Ty Corbin and keep most of the assistants in tact under him. Will be interesting to see how it plays out

Of your list, I think only Morris, Brooks and maybe Hart were misses, all those other guys are barely hangin on to a spot. Agreed about being active earlier though, not making moves for Mitchell and/or SGA still haunt me.

I like the idea of Hammond, but it won’t happen in Orlando, not with the Devos family in charge. Isn’t there history with Weltman and Kidd? I know they traded for his rights but can’t remember if Weltman was GM

The draft combine is the 21-27 of June, lottery is the 22nd. I think it’s important to have the new staff in place by the combine, personally.

I dunno.. for one Bianchi is a terrible reporter whose been anti Magic since I was a kid. He seems to love hating the team. Also, there’s way too many unknowns right now to know how long the rebuild will take. I believe it’s deeper with Clifford, I don’t think he agreed with or supported trading Vooch and I think management did that without his sign off.

Can’t rule out Ty Corbin either

I’m honestly strapped in for one of the former Magic men who has turned to coaching. This front office has a history of loyalty and embracing its past. Penny, Darrell, B-Shaw, Juwan Howard, Patrick Ewing can anybody think of any more former Magic players turned coaches that could be potential fits? I think the guessing game starts there

I think it depends how truthful the reporting was with Clifford denying an extension and that’s why we mutually parted ways. If that’s the case we seem to want a vet coach that’s in it for the long haul and to try to compete ASAP, if that’s bullocks then we made the move to bring in a younger coach to grow with the team. Like Hennigan tried with Vaughn and failed miserably to do.

Making this move so close to after Stotts was surprisingly let go is interesting. I’d be very happy if we brought Stotts on board, if he came with a quality defensive mind as an assistant

Man... grateful for Clifford and kind of surprised, but I guess not blown away. Young coach to grow with a young team? Vanterpool?

Stotts and Stevens both being out as coaches will force the timeline a bit of other teams considering making a move. Rumor mill right now is Chauncey Billups to Boston and Jason Kidd to Portland. I don’t see how Kidd makes Portland better, always thought he’s been super overrated as a coach personally. Also, I like Stotts quite a bit, good coach and good man, curious to see where he lands.

Man, I was looking forward to hate watching Space Jam 2. LeBron still ain’t over the 2009 loss to us that stopped him vs Kobe happening in the Finals, apparently. This was one of my main fears after the bubble. Spending that much time anywhere with the rules they were limited to and being locked up in a hotel could make you hate a place, it definitely hurt us in free agency. It’s also never good to see the face of the NBA saying stuff like this.

Honestly, without Murray and Barton and Dozier there’s no excuse for Portland not to win.
