Oklahoma City Thunder's Shai Gilgeous-Alexander to be sidelined through All-Star break with sprained ankle (espn.com.au) here comes okc's push to the bottom just as the magic are teasing bringing back markelle.

Disappointing they haven't gone back to scoring through Franz in 2nd half, no?

Looks like Franz is definitely feeling how you feel tonight, Phil. Good stuff. ... still don't want them to beat us to the bottom though lol

Can't complain about Franz scoring 11 of the first 17. I really hope everyone's right about this guy long term.

I'd rather beat them out for ping pong balls. They pipped us last year. On the note of Stewart... maybe not skilled but he is clever and "beefy" right? Not sure going small with him around is guaranteeing good news

those are two great comparisons for Bamba's comparative disappointment.

I think we lucked out on having elite level talent in those years, we lurched from Shaq - Pennny - T-Mac - Dwight without being without for more than a year. We haven't been able to get All-NBA level talent since then. Our initial luck has more than since run dry. And sometimes it is luck. If we had the no.2 pick in so many years that wasn't 2013, we would have rolled right back to it. Instead we got Vic and didn't even maximise his talents. Edit: don't get me wrong, there was a tonne of mismanagement in those times, but we lucked into our best players and very rarely (leading to 2009 finals, maybe 2010) did a lot to build around them

Condolences TMF :( Another reminder for the rest of us what is important and how vulnerable many truly are.

I really like this in terms of workability and benefit. No idea about the numbers, but something for everyone surely.

Not sure how GSW value those guys really, but I imagine even one of them is valued higher than either Ross or Bamba. I think it's time to part with Ross too, but not to a team like GSW - they don't need him.

Well, we are still in the beginning stages of a long game. I don't know why people insist on firing guys every couple of years (Not saying you do, I think I'm aggregating from here, facebook and reddit - so many people just answer "get rid" with everything). Creates hostile work environments. Positions like these cannot be measured by wins and losses alone. They haven't thrown uncontrollable money at horrible candidates, there is flexibility and somewhat of a future.

They're clearly not going to Franz for whatever reason. Sure it will turn around for him... well I hope.

Whatever culture San Antonio had started with having elite talent. Before David Robinson they were rubbish.

Silver lining today looks like that Cole comes back scoring without missing a beat. That's probably about the third time he's come back from being out and just jumped right back into being a good offensive player. Not sure what to make of him long term but he is a scorer for sure.

Do you really think they'd break up him and Tatum? And I'm starting to wonder if they wouldn't prefer him. Also, at this point I'd throw the house at Boston for him.

Really seems to be in and out on a daily basis right now. I wonder if we have any chance of seeing the full squad by the end of the season.

The shooting / scoring is more significant than ordinarily for us as well, being that it's been consistently decent % and he's been finding his own shot and also at good volume. Three things that were question marks for him coming out. While I do not want to jump the gun on anyone, there is no way he hasn't done everything we could expect of a 19/20 year old guy.

    2022 NBA Draft Thread

This is exactly why I keep arguing the "do everything possible to get a star" line as it doesn't matter who else we have until our best player is on an All-NBA team

I'll take that recommendation as gospel. I've loved how he has played when I've seen him but wanted to know how he'd go as the main rim protector. Seems to have flourished. Shame I was passed out with a migraine argh

I wish I watched this one… or could have even. Wendell looked like he never needed to be shifted to the 4 to accommodate Mo. Would that be a big takeaway from their performance? Also what happened to Chuma? I can’t see anything about him

    2021-2022 Orlando Magic Season Thread… Let’s Goo!!!

" The best thing for the franchise is to try to develop our young players and not tell them it’s ok if they lose because we’re trying to tank anyway. Gordon was right when he commented on how that message impeded player development." The idea that this is an open mandate is speculative at best. Edit: further to this. I assume Weltman and Hammond were brought here with the goal of winning a championship and creating a sustainable winning environment. So no, continuing to tread water by putting middling pieces together and saying "we'll pursue what is best for winning the most games this season with this here right now" is not the best thing for the franchise at all. Every respectable winning culture in the league past and present starts with a transcendent player, not the supporting cast. I do not understand how many times this has to be wheeled out. We have who we have this year, this is unavoidable. Going out and chasing the Kendrick Nunn's, Devonte Graham's and Jae Crowder's of the world to "Stabilise our young talent" is not going to win us any favours now or in 10 years.

Not sure if I should be surprised that knives are out already for a coach 30 games in during a season where the best thing for the franchise long term is to continue our pursuit for a franchise player...
