    Rebuilding...again

As probably the only KY fan in the forum, I'll just let you know...Anthony Davis is not a SF lol...he doesn't have that talent level yet. Plus he's got a 7'6 wingspan...think Marcus Camby but with a higher ceiling. Also, you probably won't want and maybe won't be able to get Marquis Teague. He's got a lot to work on...ALOT...so I wouldn't be surprised if he stayed another year. And I'm confused, how would the Magic be able to get 2 top 5 picks in order to get Rivers and Davis?

I'm sure they did, but we don't have attractive trade pieces...

Ok, who would be the best GM available to help the Magic rebuild? My vote is for Steve Kerr, but I also think Charles Barkley would do a better job than people want to give him credit for.

So, I'm like most of you on the board. I'm shocked, a little pissed, a lot sad, and a lot curious about what this team is going to look like 2 weeks from now when we open, and 3 months from now when the trade deadline gets here, then again once the season ends. I'm in full-blown rebuilding mode. I've accepted Dwight is gone. I'm a upset, but I'm NOT going to give up on the Magic. I think Otis (or whoever the GM ends up being) can make this transition easier on the fans and the organization depending on who they trade Dwight to. If the Magic trade him to the Nets for only Brook Lopez, we're basically screwed for the next couple of years while draft picks mature and current contracts expire. However, if we trade with teams like the Clippers, Thunder, Knicks, Nuggets, maybe even Boston - I believe that we could come out reasonably on our feet. I mentioned this in another thread, but I'd love to see the Magic maybe swing Dwight to the Nets, but only if the Nets include the Rockets in the deal. If we send Dwight and Turk to the Nets, let the Rockets get some of the filler players from the Nets (Outlaw maybe?) and the Magic get Lopez, Patterson, and CLee plus draft picks? I'd be ok with that. I'd actually be really happy with that. http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=74dx9fw Knicks - Dwight and Turk for Amare and Billups http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=8xbcax7 Then you have the Clips and Thunder who have ample players and could give us a lot of young talent in return. So here is my question: who are some (maybe 1-2) players that you'd like to rebuild this team with if we lose Dwight? Like reasonable grabs, like Russell and Ibaka or something similar.

I really don't care :) as long as it worked out. I'd be more ok with D12 leaving if we were left with suitable rebuilding pieces already in place. If we just get brook lopez...we'll have to wait at least 2-3 years to see if the draft picks work out, then wait for our current contracts to expire.

Well if we're going that route...I'd say go to either the Thunder or send him to the Knicks for Amare and Billups. Let him be close to DWill but not play with him.

Rockets want a Center. Let's flip Brook Lopez and the picks to the Rockets for Patrick Patterson and CLee. Let that be your core. I agree Fire Otis -- Hire Steve Kerr or Charles Barkley!

I agree with the bold...the rest not so sure Definitely think we'd get screwed with the Nets deal. I say they need to add another team in here and get us something in return. Hell see if we can 3-team trade with the Hornets. Rent Paul for a year, then have Paul convince Dwight to come back to Orlando.

Anyone get the feeling like this is the Cavs all over again? Yes I know Dwight is almost forcing our hand if this is true...but the fanbase love with the player, then the player leaving. I'm in KY, but I've been a Magic fan for like 10 years now (I know still a pup compared to some) but still I'm legitimately bummed out by this. I was really hoping Dwight would be different. If he leaves, he's the same as Shaq in my mind and will probably be treated like Shaq from here on out.

Thats comforting. In my head, I'm thinking that if the Warriors did offer Curry that the Hornets would be smart if they took it, depending on the other pieces. I think Curry is going to wind up being a stud in the NBA. Hopefully we sweeten the deal. I don't know how, but something. A year with Paul by his side will convince D12 to resign. I'm positive.

Well, since we're on the topic...another potential add goes to the Heat.... RicBucher Hearing that Shane Battier is bound for the Miami Heat. Not strong enough to write a news story but no league talk of him going elsewhere. 1 hour ago

Alright, lets chill with the "using God is a cop-out" thing... Even if you don't believe in God or any type of religion...Dwight is a man of faith and always has been. Men of faith go to the one that they believe in when they're trying to make big time decisions. This is a big time decision for Dwight and he's obviously wanting to make sure that he is doing what God wants him to do. You can disagree with his religious stance, but don't bash it just because you can. _______________________ Back to basketball, so apparently DWill and CP3 have reached out and said they want to play with Dwight. I've seen other talks that said both of these guys are possible to acquire. Is a stellar PG enough to keep D12 here? Or does he need another star? If so, what position does that other star need to be? PF? SF? SG? I'm thinking PF, since talented big men are rarer than slashing, scoring guards/forwards. DWill, D12, and J-Smooth? That sounds good to me.. Just saw this on ESPN, DWill says there is a 90% chance he'll stay with the Nets <-- Link On a completely unrelated point, Suns have announced that they are going to cut Vince. Bring him back at the appropriate price?
