  1. Considering that his family is rooted in Orlando and not moving anywhere no matter where he plays next year, I think his first choice is definitely the Magic, but he probably knows more about what Otis is planning for the summer then we do. Might be that Otis doesn't want to trade Hedo yet, we'll see what happens. It's stupid blaming Grant now for leaving when we don't know the facts or even if the story is true.

If he wanted to leave, he should have left last year when he had the chance. Grant Hill has been a huge liability for the magic, and we got NOTHING for him. He might be a nice guy, but look at it from a business/GM point of view: we lost millions signing him. Those millions could have been spent helping mcgrady while he was here, or signing ben wallace or chauncey billups (remember when we traded them?). I think it's best that we get rid of Grant Hill, because it's very clear that this team is moving in a different direction. You cant just cancel the contract, once it's signed the money is gone, so talking what would have been IF is pointless. And I fail to see how Grant is moving in a different direction then the team, he wants to play a smaller role, and the Magic want to develop Trevor as starter and have a veteran backup and teacher for him in Grant, looks like a win win situation to me if he will be fine with a smaller contract - which I think he will. That's of course just my optimistic thinking, but you never know until free agency starts and we get to hear from players and their agents and GMs.
  3. There has been a little bit of talk about Grant in this thread in case you want to chime in, http://orlandomagiczone.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/8891029871/m/9781065883 . Anyway I think it's a great news since he's the reason I became Magic fan. Even though he didn't play much back then and team went through some tough years, I never looked back!
  4. Very nice, thanks for posting this, just listening to it now!
  5. quote: Originally posted by Knappy:I am ok either way, but I don't want him getting starter minutes or starting. I don't think Grant wants that either. I hope we get a SG free agent so we can start Ariza, and have Hill come of the bench not eating anyones minutes.
  6. I would just like to say that article is not really saying much new. He said at the end of the year that if he will feel ok, he will play a year or 2 more, so in theory yeah, every team is an option, like Detroit, but there is not much chance he is leaving. Of course if we get Lewis, then chances of Grant staying go down a lot, because it doesnt make much sense to have both Ariza and Hill on the bench. Of course if we dont get a SG, we might keep Grant, but I dont think he wants to start, since he doesn't want to get injured again, and that would really be pushing it. And JJ probably wont be ready, so that really puts us in a tough spot. Maybe if Trevor can transform to SG fast enough it might work with JJ and Hill coming of the bench for SF and SG positions behind Trevor and Lewis. We'll see, there are countless possibilities out there and I can't wait to see what comes out of it.
  7. Besides the most popular names that are being thrown out there, who would you try to get to Orlando? I'm hoping we got after a somehow true SG, and a name I heard mentioned but not really being talked about being Jason Richardson. His last season numbers being 32mpg, 16ppg, 5rpg, 3.4apg, 1.1spg, and 1.6 to. In playoffs he avged 19.1ppg/6.7rpg/2.0apg. Also his contract is "only" 10 mil/year (70mil for 7 years until 2011) so he is definitely a possibility, but I'm not sure what we can trade that would interest GSW.

  9. Knowing Otis and what he said through the year and at the end of the season, I can't see how Lewis can be his first choice. Definitely a possibility but not the one he will go after at first.
  10. A little summary, but I think they will put it on the Espn website so you can listen to it later. What do you think about being a 2nd choice: Stan: I'm used to it. I'm never a guy who people get excited for, but always the one "Oh, we got him..". It was same in college, in Heat and now in Orlando. But the results are there on the court and it's all that matters. Also talked a little about the game plan for the Magic, and he said he likes to do offensive mismatches, like one we got with Dwight, and hopes to add some more this summer. So teams have to double team and give us chance for easy baskets. I'm not sure if he talked about anything else before this, but that's what I caught. Hope it's helpful.
  11. bhnole I'm hoping for VC as well since he can slide from SG to SF position as needed and provide more playing time for JJ & Trevor. However I cant imagine Bogans being our backup SF, I think that's gonna be either Hill or some new guy, Bogans is probably gone together with Hedo and Carlos. Of course everything depends on who we get as our scorer.
  12. quote: Originally posted by MagicFanBen:I would say his stats will largely depend on who we pick up as a free agent and who remains on the roster once the dust settles. Agree, with a Vince type of a player, JJ might not see more then 15mpg next year if he plays SG only. On the other hand, with Vince, we might be able to play Vince some on SF and share more minutes between Trevor and JJ. So we get combos Vince-Trevor, Trevor-JJ and Vince-JJ which will all work nicely, and 20mpg might not be even impossible.
  13. Gonna get straight to the list: Dwight: Like you said FTs and passing. And about shooting, I think he has to work on his hook shot, because it's not as reliable as it should be. Darko is much better in this element from what I have seen. Darko: Gotta agree, aggressiveness and motivation are two things that Darko has to work on. Trevor: Definitely jump shot, overall he is progressing very nicely already. Our Pgs: Hard to say, we will see how they will work now that we will actually have some offensive game plans. JJ: Again hard to say because we havent seen him too much, but I dont think he disappointed with his defense when he played. He should just keep working on his game overall and prove himself on the court.
  14. Good to see Riley talking nice about Stan, even saying he is the best young coach in the NBA. I know he is partially saying this just because he wanted draft picks from us, but still it's a nice compliment from a man who has been there and done that. quote: MIAMI, FL, June 7
  15. Starting right now, Otis and Stan on the stage.
  16. You can find the link on the homepage, www.nba.com/magic or www.orlandomagic.com . However I pulled out the link for you, http://boss.streamos.com/wmedia-live/nba/11191/300_nba-orlandmagic_060502.asx . The broadcast is already live, but no conference yet.
  17. RockChalk, you are doing a nice job, thanks for posting conference info in here.
  18. Most here don't care who is the "best insider", we just want news, so topics like this really make no sense in here. I believe most of us appreciate MC articles, but if you want to discuss if he is the best or what not, you should go to Off-topic section.
  19. nbr I agree with you, I think the media and a lot of our board members are being over dramatic, like always.
  20. Of course, I have no idea what I was thinking! :-)
  21. quote: what? Does Grant then come off the bench or start at SF? Personally I would like to see his stint with the Magic come to an end. I don't think he'll be satisfied with a limited role and I don't think he can p If we get a SG in FA, then Hedo is probably gone, Trevor moved to 1st lineup and Grant on the bench. One thing is almost certain, and that is only one of Hedo and Grant will be with us next year if we manage to get a SG. And because Hedo will have bigger contract, it seems like a logical thing to trade him and keep cheaper Grant. Of course Grant can decide to take bigger paycheck from some other team, but I personally believe that less then 10% of it happening, and that he will likely stay here for whatever money we will have left after signing/trading new SG and resigning Darko.
  22. Its easier to sustain high percentage for a couple (4) of games then through all the series. So it's not surprising that only 2 are still playing. And Darko really had above average games. I'm happy he is on this list, and really happy that 2 of our guys are here, it's definitely a good sign.
  23. I would love to see "Flash" back as an assistant coach or any other part of our organization, but I have no idea what are his intentions for the future so we might be going in the dark here. And like you said, not resigning him was one of the biggest mistake that our hockey gm made.
  24. Awesome, lots of hype in arena, I like the reception!
