They have to come out with something after all the hype and cap room. It would not be surprised if the tendered and offer to Gordon after missing out on the big fish. Would be funny though. It would mean they struck out on their top marks and had to look at restricted free agents. That Laker legacy is not what it used to be.

I think Thomas makes sense on a short term, reasonably priced contract if our docs approve his medical records. We need a crafty veteran scorer at guard to take pressure off of our very young bigs so that they can learn at their own pace and not face unreasonable expectations to carry the scoring load. Thomas can do that if healthy and on a 1 + 1 deal he is going to have something to prove without a lot of risk to us. If he shows something he could be a great trade asset or we just keep him since it is short term. I would rather do something like this than get wrapped up in a four year deal with someone that is not a long term answer. That is the type of contract the young options like FVV will be looking for.

Surprised by lack of veteran trades tonight. I cannot recall a draft where no veterans were traded.

Let me start by saying I am not a huge fan of his game but considering that we have defensive guys that can cover other's shortcomings and considering we are short on scoring and point guard play does it make sense to sign Isaiah Thomas on a one year deal? He could take some pressure off the young guys and spread the floor. For him it could be a "prove it" sort of year to show he is healthy and still can be effective. We get a temporary fix and he gets a chance to sign a bigger contract a year later. Might make sense if it is cheap. Any thoughts?

Danny Manning just made the best comparison for Trae Young that I had not heard yet. Do any of you remember Damon Stoudamire? Similar size and shooting.

Al Harrington: "I like the Magic"

I don't want another big guy that lives to shoot threes. Don't we have that area covered already? I want a slasher or another very good low post defender and scorer. If one isn't available now lets wait until the trade deadline when Carter's expiring becomes more valuable since 80% of it will have been paid out.

Knicks and Magic trade talks go on!

Aside from the way it was handled, which was poor, this guy woke up this morning with a franchise that probably depreciated in value $100-$200 million overnight. That is a tough pill to swallow and that doesn't even include the loss he is going to take on merchandise and ticket sales. I would be a little bitter too.

    Otis has been awesome!

I think Otis has done a decent job but I also believe a large amount of the credit goes to ownership. Had ownership said that they refuse to pay luxury tax during difficult economic times then this team would be crippled by the Lewis contract. Ownership has stepped up in a big way allowing Otis the opportunity to makeup for a poison pill contract which I believe he has done very well.

I think this deal is mostly designed to allow Chicago to get more cap space so that they can officially sign two max guys.

Guess what, they not only won but they kicked our butts. That was a squad made up of guys mostly past their primes. If Wade, Bosh, Noah, and Rose team up we are in deep trouble. That is a young nucleus of all stars and future all stars and they are going to be the team to beat in the east. Take off the blue goggles folks. If Wade and Bosh sign on then we need a Chris Paul type of deal to keep up. nah, the deals arent really comparable. Pierce Allen and Garnett all fit together well. It took good (defensive) coaching, an established core of good draft picks (perkins, rondo, and to a much lesser extent tony allen), and two "last hurrah" guys ( cassell and brown) to make that championship happen. It took those guys to be past their prime for it to all work out well. Lebron and Wade are both "Pierce" type guys. Bosh does not even compare to Garnett. The possibility is there, but to say its the same situation shows an improper respect for the complexities of the '08 celtics and how hard it actually is to build a team that fits together. Lebron, D. Wade & Bosh are all Magic killers..lol..Don't lie to yourself..lol. gary payton, karl malone, Kobe, Shaq Jerry West, Elgin Baylor, Wilt Chamberlain x3 the 82-83 lakers those combinations of players didn't win it all. Malone was in his last year and got injured in the finals, Payton was a shell of his old self. If Malone was healthy they could have won the finals. Bad Example. Baylor, West and Chamberlain lost to a Celtics Dynasty including hall of famers Russell, Havlicek, Sam Jones and a Knicks team including hall of famers Reed, Frazier, DeBusschere, and Bradley. Bad Example The 82-83 Lakers lost to a Sixers team with hall of famers Julius Erving, and Moses Malone plus players like Mo Cheeks, Bobby Jones, and Andrew Toney. Bad Example They weren't hall of famers while they were playing. Dwight might be a hall of famer. If lewis can play for a few more years and break ray allen's eventual records then he might be in the hall of fame. If Vince gets a championship he might be in the hall of fame. Daniel Orton might surprise us all and be a top center eventual hall of famer. Glory, Fame, and Championships are earned. Just because you put talent on the floor does not mean you get to win it all automatically. We've been good enough to win it all these last two years. It hasn't worked out yet. We've beaten "better" teams before, we can beat them again. Hope you are right though it is less of an uphill battle if you have the most talent. It would be nice to be in that boat.

I'm getting there too, sorry everybody. I do think it is becoming clear that the top guys want to find a way to get together somewhere which makes me a little nervous. The only thing good about Wade and Bosh teaming up in Chicago is that Lebron would be left out in the cold. That would be very funny indeed.

For arguments sake lets say it is Bosh instead of James. Rose will give Nelson all kinds of trouble on both ends. He has the size to really cause problems. Wade will eat Carter alive. Bosh and Noah are both very good players capable of putting Howard in foul trouble. Bosh is versatile enough to chase Rashard on the perimeter. Wade and Bosh are unselfish superstars and Noah and Rose have both shown they are team players at a very young age. The other deal being tossed around is Deng for Bayless and Przybilla. Przybilla provides more size, fouls for Howard, and rebounding. Bayless is still a young player capable of providing a spark off the bench. I don't buy that this team can't mesh. Of course they will and they have far superior raw talent.
