I hope that answered your question.

    D-BoFats,

I think I know where he (Foad) got the idea that the Magic team is nicknamed "Blue". A little while back, ROCKCHALK posted a thread asking members to "Help With a Name" for our group--a name that we would like the members of this board to be called collectively. A number of our members (including myself) posted their suggestions and used the word "Blue". For example, one poster suggested the name "Blue Crew". Another poster suggested "House of Blue". I suggested "Planet Blue".

    quote:
Otis is a moron a fool and on top of that shows signs of arrogance and being a total inept at making deals.

This name calling is totally unacceptable and needs to stop, especially calling Otis a "moron". You have a right to disagree with the way he has handled things, but personally, I don't think he or anyone else (fans, owners, etc)deserves to be called any names. Otis has at least heard you on some of your demands and has worked tirelessly to meet a few. It's like a family that orders a bucket of chicken, and everybody argues because they didn't get the piece that they like.

I am a Magic fan, and I come to this board to find out what's going on with our team. I also enjoy reading posters' thoughts and opinions. But name calling is very distasteful and I get tired of seeing words like "moron" being repeated over and over.

Please mods, do something about this!

Now don't go crazy on me. The word "stupid" used here means (funny, comical, hahaha!),,,

    nothing negative.

The reason I said that was because while I was reading along in this thread, I approached your response, when low and behold there was Knappy's old signature.

WP, I have said this before, you, NBR, DJ(and some others on this board)are so-o-o-o funny at times. When least expected, something silly or a funny picture is posted by some of you. You all just crack me up

Keep the jokes coming. We need it to soften the blows of all the recent negativity on this board.

We also thought that Grant Hill would never leave the Magic, and everyone was raving about what a fine guy he was. But he left, didn't he?

So, what makes anyone think that Dwight would not leave the team if he didn't get help.

What if Dwight didn't resign because we didn't get him help?

    What if Darko left anyway?

Our roster would be Dwight, Trevor, Tony, JJ, and Jameer with Dwight most likely looking at becoming a free agent (can you see the league wide cap clearing that would happen if that were the case?) not to mention how would our record look next season as we are trying to get the arena deal passed.

They didn't go about it in the best way but we had to get a scorer no matter what.

STAND AND CHEER...FOR YOUR ORLANDO-O-O-O-O MAGIC!

  10. It makes no since to me that there are hundreds of threads on this board where posters are repeating the same thing over, and over, and over! What is this obsession about winning a championship? It sounds like most of you want it NOW! Am I missing something? It's nice to win a championship, but it may not happen for another 3 or 4 years. Look at some of the teams that have NEVER, EVER made it into the playoffs...let alone not win a championship...teams that have been around much longer than the Magic.

I love basketball, and it is a good feeling when we win. I don't mind a few losses as long as we (the Magic) have a successful season with a lot more wins than losses. With the pieces that we have so far, I'm going to enjoy watching the high-flying athleticism of the Orlando Magic next year...because I love our team and I love basketball.

Don't get me wrong, I would love to see us win a championship down the road. But for me right now, I'll settle for the first or second round in the playoffs.

I'm just so excited about watching these guys play.

Think of this as basically a swap of Grant Hill for Rashard, since their contracts are very alike.

ThisIsTheYear, what you just said makes a lot of sense (to me). Amid all the ramblings and complaining by other posters, I never thought about this as an even swap for talent and salary--Lewis for Hill, that is. And besides, Lewis is joining the Magic free of injuries (I hope!)

MagicNoles, you need to apologize to Catman when you accused him of making negative remarks about Darko having bad character because he smokes. That was MC who mentioned that Darko smokes. (See page 1 of this thread)

Actually, Catman defended Darko and said that he didn't smoke. (See quote below, and Page 2 of this thread)

We need to be really, really careful and make sure we have the facts before we incorrectly accuse someone of a negative act.

I'm on board with the Lewis signing, but I noticed on the Seattle team page that Rashard played a total of 60 games, which means that he missed 22 out of 82 games.

Question: Were those missed games all due to injuries? If So ...

    1. Is that bad?

    2. Is that not a problem or concern?

That was my understanding as well - that we can only pay $500K toward a buyout of a Foreign player - that is our maximum. So, I agree Ghost, I'm not sure how Fran can take that kind of hit. $3m Euros is almost $4m dollars. I think he needs to finish his contract out unless I am missing something here. And, I think the Magic should use her in trade - I don't want to see her in a Magic uniform, but I guess I'd give her a chance.

I agree!!! ...And what about the time (during the playoffs--I think) he turned the ball over out of bounds because he held it too long and didn't call a "timeout". He also had the ball stolen quite a bit during the regular season.

Grant is not a good ball handler. He is a good slasher (to the basket) but that's about all.

This "potential" homerism is getting out of hand.

NYCE, I really don't know that much about Rashard Lewis as far as his age or otherwise. I only recognize him when his team plays against the Magic. So what I'm basically saying is that I am not here in support of Lewis.

My point is that I have been a Magic fan since the beginning. And I know of what I observed about Mike Miller when he played with the Magic. When he first started playing, he was very good offensively, but he was as bad as Garrity is on defense. He and Pat were rotated in and out of the games for their 3 pt. specialty, and both were good at one time. Then things started going downhill for both of them, and it was very frustrating to watch both of them struggle "throwing up bricks",,,and that is the truth!!!

Now, you talk about some of you doing desperate things if Mike and Pat end up playing together on our team, well all I can say is more power to you.

We'd still have Arroyo and Garrity's expirings, Turk, and Bogans as trade bait to maybe S&T a big man FA. We, as a team and organization, would definitely be in a good position.

    Jameer/Dooling/Arroyo or Diener

    Johnson/Battie/Augustine

    Dwight/S&T FA/Gortat

I totally agree with you, Knappy.

You guys must not remember when Mike Miller last played with the Magic. Tmac was on the team at that time. But before Mike was traded, there was a season where he was sidelined alot with a foot or ankle injury. He and Pat Garrity were our 3 pt. specialists, and both of them started a decline in making those shots. I always felt that Garrity should have been traded before Mike. But both of them were loosing their touch with the 3 pt. shot.

No, I would not bring Miller back
