I'm worried about Suggs long-term. He had a career year last year and stayed pretty healthy... suiting up for 75 games. However, the two prior years he only played in 48 and 53 games, and now he's hurt again. His intensity is a game-changer, but it's also often reckless. Some of us have been saying this for a while. I just hope he proves me wrong.

Yes, we have been saying it. He stays on the floor on his back and butt too much, trying to be a hard-nose defender. . .sometimes landing into the cameramen sitting on the floor behind the basket.

Daryl Armstrong was a hard-nose defender, but I don't remember him getting injured like Suggs and missing a lot of games.

Where is TMF at? Lol. The thing is, at this point who would be willing to take him?

I'm here! I just flew back to Daytona this afternoon from my vacation home in Maryland. I'm catching up on comments on the game from posters. I had to prepare for my trip back home, so I couldn't watch the late night telecast of the game.

Thanks, MagicOne for asking about me!   PnvLMB.png

I do, however, agree with All Eyes On Me about moving AB. I've been saying it many times. I don't think he is the future of the Magic. As a point guard you have to contribute more than defensively. The front office needs to pull the trigger.

As my neighbor in Maryland said to me the other day about some warn out sneakers I keep wearing. "It's time to let go."!

  3. Must Read:   Mavericks Explain Reason For Doncic Trade

    Article:

    Quote

Sources told ESPN's Tim MacMahon that constant concerns about Doncic's conditioning were a major factor in the Mavericks' decision to approach the Lakers about a trade. Doncic has played in only 22 games this season because of injuries, primarily a left calf strain that has sidelined him since Christmas Day.

Sources told MacMahon that there was extreme frustration throughout the organization about Doncic's lackadaisical approach to diet and conditioning, which Mavs decision-makers believed negatively impacted his durability.

Isn't that what Fan For Too Long 2  has been saying should be a concern about Paolo also?. . . his needing to lose weight  and get in shape.

    **Also**

    Quote

Mavericks general manager Nico Harrison cited Davis' superior defense as a reason for the trade, saying "defense wins championships," while acknowledging that Doncic's upcoming contractual situation also was a concern.

wow i’m stunned. The NBA is a WWE league. Once again, the Lakers get a prime franchise player! For what? AD? AD who hasn’t looked the same for a long time now? Doncic who hasn’t event entered his prime?

This is sick. Good for Lakers fans. Gonna make them even more cocky. But i dunno. These deals need to be investigated

It's been removed, but a few minutes ago I saw on ESPN Kendrick Perkins, nba sports analyst, questioned how that deal went down.

This is probably true on the offensive side of the equation. The upside on him was always defensively. He has kind of a weird looking shot too. Not as bad as Fultz, but it's pretty close. Rashard Lewis had a funky shot back in the day. But that dude could flat out shoot the basketball. Remember the good old days of inside out basketball?!

But Fultz was not sloppy on defense either. The thing I liked about Markelle was he was very good at breaking down the defense and getting into the paint for layups. As the point guard, Fultz did not run and stand in the corner (that is, before Mosley became coach). He was very good as a floor general getting others involved.

Mosely. Also AB he has zero offensive skills. I was a fan of elfrid and he knew how to pass and had triple doubles.  AB is a better defender but his offense skills are even worse if that’s possible.

Thank you! I agree. I don't know why anyone thinks he is the future and will develop offensively. It aint going to happen!

  7. I'm so over Cole Anthony and his poutiness when things don't go his way on the court. I am sick of seeing the closeup on the screen of that frown on his face when a foul is called against him. Then he argues with the refs and coach Mosley has to call him off to the side to calm him down.

Last night Cole and another Blazers player fought for the ball. Cole stepped out of bounds under the basket, then threw the ball back in to a teammate. He argued with the ref. that he was inbound when the replay showed he was clearly out.

I want Cole traded and I don't want to see Suggs playing point guard. He's too reckless.

Paolo can not guard most centers in the league. He has no lift to block or defend 7 footers. He really needs to lose fifteen pounds and do some dam cardio. His energy on defense is sucking the life out this team. Also his pounding the ball incessantly and ONLY looking for his middy is disgusting and also deflating everyone else on the court. Franz is the only all star on this team right now. Period.

    Paolo, WAKE THE F*** UP!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree 100%.  And playing "small ball" will not work for the Magic. You need a good point guard.

Some time ago, when the Warriors were winning championships, they were good at playing small ball with Draymond Green at center and Steph Curry point guard.

Yeah, he's definitely not moving like he was at the start of the season. He looks a step or two slower since his return. Plus, teams aren't respecting our shooters, so there just packing the paint on Paolo and Franz, making it tough on them.

I was not able to watch the first two quarters of last night's game, but in the 4th quarter, didn't the Heat play a lot of zone? Because of the zone, the Magic (*fill in a name*) consistently over dribbled in an iso attempt  to make a shot and resulted in putting up long, outside shots before the clock ran out. I remember Franz "boinked" one from way beyond the 3 pt. line and missed the mark.

Some poster mentioned Paolo over dribbling, but also Franz threw up a couple of long range jumpers because of the zone played by Miami.

Sine88, I don't know if what you said that Miami didn't respect our shooters, so they packed the paint on Paolo and Franz is the same as what I alluded to as Miami playing zone.

Having Suggs available would have helped tonight. The defense has been slipping quite a bit during this funk that we're in.

I don't know. In a post pages ago, I said Suggs reminds me a former Magic player, Michael Carter Williams. He plays too hard and sometimes out of control, resulting in injuries. He falls on his back a lot.

Suggs fouls a lot too and argues too much with the refs.

  11. The bench players did win some games while our superstars were nursing their injuries. There was no selfishness and there was ball movement.

To be honest, when there was talk about when Paolo and Franz would return to playing again, I wondered if there was going to be a problem with other teammates not playing the way they had been playing (winning games) while Paolo and Franz sat out.

I wondered whether the other teammates would feel the need to stand back and let Paolo and Franz run the show. Things became discombobulated after their return. My concern became a reality.

I thought Wendell was good tonight tbh. He, AB and TDS were bright spots. Paolo was awful, and Franz probably shouldn’t have played either OT, he had no gas left in the tank. Paolo has been dreadful in like 3 of the last 4 games. No idea what’s going on, but he’s gotta figure his **** out quick.

Probably went to his head while he was out due to an  injury. There was so much praise for him and Franz being the Magic's superstars, and how much they were needed after their injuries. When he returned to the floor, he thought he could put on his superman cape and save the team.

    That's my 2 cents.  :)

. . . .and yes, I've watched that movie 100 times over the years during the holidays. The cinematography(?) is amazing. The characters are interesting and look real.  :)

Staying tuned for an update on Suggs, he was back on the bench near the end of the game, so that’s a good sign.

Franz and P did their thing tonight. Great to see. Especially Franz in that 4th quarter, that’s elite
